Hey @BillyD I hope your headache is better today.
Fun Fact: If you call for a neurology appointment around here, as a new patient, they will see you in 3-4 months. That's not very satisfying for someone who has an acute need. It has forced many of us primary care docs to do much of the initial work that neurology does. Sad!

As long as I stay ahead of the pains I’m feeling pretty good. Once the coverage starts to wear off and I feel a twinge or two then I take some meds. I’m not taking that useless Fioricet, either. Cost me 9 bucks, I wish I could take it back.
Later today I might try one of the meds my wife got yesterday. Ironically she had a foot surgery appointment in the same hospital, so we rode together yesterday and then went our separate ways upon arrival. But she got some oxy for her pain, so I might try that because she says the loopy effects she hates are absent in this iteration. I hate that too, couldn’t wait to get off the oxy they supplied for my shoulder surgery last year.

I use four browsers and have maybe a dozen tabs in each, normally. Sometimes more.

Oh no. I hope that’s not the case here, that’s on my short agenda for today.

Opioids are not recommended for headache in general, but okay in an emergency. Keep the acetaminophen and ibuprofen going to keep the dose as low as possible. If it's something other than regular oxycodone, check if it has acetaminophen in it and reduce your tylenol dose accordingly if it does.

One of my lofty life goals is to be able to write down the names of all 67 counties in Pennsylvania. IIRC, my record is around 64. That was a long time ago. Need to study and practice more.

I do wonder where my post count would be if it weren't for a half-dozen or more hiatuses over the years.
It's also funny to remember we used to hit in the vicinity of ten pages a day on this thread.

My daughter has chronic migraines. She had one so bad about a week ago, she pulled over off the freeway and called crying. Just last night started a new drug called Emgality. (she's progressed through a bunch of other prescriptions, most of which barely helped), . It's an injection like an EpiPen. We'll see if it works.

It’s hard to say, we can only speculate. I would love to take a survey to find out, although I suspect a leading cause is that people just develop new interests and move on. I have too, but skipped the moving on part.

Yeah, she got her boyfriend to pick her up and drive her to her house to get some meds. She mentioned later that she wasn't even aware of cars around her. I mentioned her new drug because it's supposed to help cluster headaches, too, But even the pharmacist said it was new enough he had little info on it.

Staying ahead is a basic principle of pain treatment. Take the med on schedule whether you're in pain or not.
Opioids are not recommended for headache in general, but okay in an emergency. Keep the acetaminophen and ibuprofen going to keep the dose as low as possible. If it's something other than regular oxycodone, check if it has acetaminophen in it and reduce your tylenol dose accordingly if it does.
