Now that I've safely passed 12.000, my next goal is a blue star. After that goal is realized, I may feel I'm ready for a plastic bike. I've also begun considering a 559 conversion on one of my road bikes. Does one want a frame on the smaller side for one of those, or does a tall one work just as well?
I have two 58 cm frame sets, which feel too cramped for everyday riding, and the rest are 60, 61, 62.

And speaking of being south of the Mason Dixon, as some of you will see on Strava, I'm back in VA.
The previously undisclosed reason for our extended visit over Christmas was my father in law's pancreatic cancer diagnosis. The reason for the return is that he had a turn for the worse shortly after we left, landed back in the hospital and they updated his outlook, shortening it to days-to-weeks.
Upon receiving the news, the wife and kids flew ahead by plane, just in case it went quickly (the boy was adamant about being here for Grandpa) and then I packed up the necessities (and cat) for an extended stay and drove solo over the course of two days.
FIL is in rough shape, wife is taking leave to assist over sleepless nights, while I'm assisting with the day-to-day, provisioning and cooking, etc.
Fun stuff.

Hot brown is dish in Kentucky - I've had it in Lexington. Turkey, some kind of bready element, gravy, iirc... can't remember the rest. It was fine.

Wind sucks. Our New Years Day century was horrible. Bah Humbug knows of 36 between Boulder and Lyons, and that's the first time I actually had to stop for a bit due to wind. Lots of canyons and rivers and stuff, and you never knew where the wind was coming from. Of nearly 30 of us starting, 4 did the whole enchilada, and it was hard. The pic that LOP put up of the semi on its side was that day-20 miles of tailwind, the rest was cross and headwind.

How go the legs today, MoAlpha ?
A little achy, mainly in the glutes. I didn't test them on the ride in, but they felt pretty much okay. No time for a workout this evening, but I expect I'll notice something tomorrow a.m., when I get on the trainer. Will do my next session of legs on Sunday, but I'll be out of town and won't ride again until Tuesday. I am so freakin' weak, I really need this.

That's a good question.
I've been on the Fizik Arione for years. It's OK. Could there be a better one out there for me? Probably. But these days I don't have a lot of energy for trial and error.

When we received the news, my initial thought was that my wife would be going to VA while I stayed back with the kids.
The boy was adamant even though I told him that it would be hard to witness and that his grandpa would be in even rougher shape than only a couple weeks earlier. Poor kid has had a crash course with death lately, losing three pets over two years, and now his grandpa.
Then the wife pipes up and says that she'd really like me to come, too, because it would be a trying time for her. So yeah, since I couldn't leave the three year old behind, that made all of us.
