I helped an older couple move some deck furniture and as always I asked if they had any old or unused bikes...the rest is history...cleaner in person and will be an easy redo.

a friend was cleaning out his garage a few years ago and gifted me some 3 speeds I would have loved to keep it but ended up fixing the shift cable and passing it along as a project

With my lighter workload and the lengthening days I got about 8.5 miles in this week...mostly neighborhood riding...been windy, too...heavier MTB riding...no appreciable snow yet.
Definitely taking the light aluminum Specialized out tomorrow, Friday, I have a need for speed!

Welp...ended up with “Well Built” 20 gallon parts cleaner...has been sitting over in the corner for the last 15 years or so that I have been servicing this home...so...I asked what they wanted to do with it...“nothin’”...take it! Got it!

I had a parts cleaner just like that once. I ran odorless mineral spirits in it. I got rid of it because of the fire risk. Cleaning parts now is a bit of a chore, but I rest easier knowing my shop is safer. I applaud your use of water-based degreasers. They dont work as well, but they are way safer. Oh, and you probably already know this, but be wary that Simple Green will dull the finish on unanodized alloy parts.

Simple Green is not made for this application.
First of all, the chemistry will definitely change over time, until you have who-knows-what kind of corrosion and biological growth and odors/gasses going on!!!
The commercial parts washer fluids are designed to maintain stable chemistry to best effect over the longest replacement interval.
So when the time comes, you trade in the old fluid for new. Maybe once or twice a year for a home washer like this one.

Just remarking the other day how uncomfortable my selection of stools were in the shop...I missed an Official Park Tool Stool some time ago...these were prob just put out...and within my price range!
This is good for about 5-10 minutes at best...
...these are too short, too tall and uncomfortable! Trifecta!
