Frame ID - French threads, no serial anywhere
I got this as a bare frame only, either stripped or never painted. It has french threads.
The seatpost dia is 25.8.
The brazing & detail looked nice so I had it soda-blasted and powder-coated clear.
The rear dropouts are like the cranked Vitus ones, same angular shape to the raised portion, but they are flat and have no maker's stamp.
Clues welcome...
[pause while I figure out how to upload pics to this editor]
Hmm. When I click "preview post" I'm getting a "you can't post URL's until you have 10 posts" error. This is, indeed, my first post (here). I tried resizing the jpg down to about 260k but I got the same error. Preview of text-only works. Oh well.
I made them into pdfs and we'll see if that works.
[pause]
Sort-of, I think.

Welcome to the forum!
Enjoy your idea for the finish.
At first glance of the thumbnails thought perhaps it may have been painted metallic grey, then as I looked more closely could see finish as you described it.
Lug pattern is BOCAMA 30/I.
Sends conflicting messages with the large clearances in the rear triangle vs the shortish dropouts and all of the braze-ons. Suspicious we are looking at the result of some measure of reworking. Pillar size and forged ends make for a slight contradiction.
Did you discover any indication of headplate fastener holes being filled in?
Are joints pinned?
Have you found any evidence to make you think fork not a replacement? Are fork ends from same ends set as dropouts.
Seat stay treatment should narrow possibilites somewhat for the experts...
Thanks for sharing this interesting find.

No holes for a headbadge.
I was wondering if it was perhaps a demonstrator or example, someone using cheaper tubes to show how they could braze.

WRT tubing -
saddle pillar size suggests a midliner tubeset such as Durifort or one of the numerous other midliner sets offered by Ateliers De La Rive. one simple inspection is to look at the tube interiors inside the bottom bracket shell to determine if they are seamed or seamless.
one check you could make if you have not done so already is to verify that the binder ears have not been pinched down, that the interior of the seat tube at the level of the seat lug is actually round, and that there is no dirt/paint/corrosion inside the top of the seat tube.
it sometimes happens that someone assembles a cycle with a pillar which is a size or two too small and counts on the seat binder bolt to take up the difference. do not wish to assert that this is the case here. mentioned only as a possibility.

Is the fork alloy or steel? It looks as if it may be a Vitus 979, which would be alloy, and a later replacement

Ah! Marmite tubing! I knew that stuff was meant for something other than eating.
Welcome oneclick ! Can't help with the ID, I'm afraid. I do have a rather nice frame that also uses the 25.8mm seatpost diameter. I don't know what tubing was used for that frame, but as it's a touring frame, I wasn't too surprised to find some wall thickness.
