.
The early CF bikes, like my kestrel 200Sci had not a bit of planned obsolescence designed in. Even the damaged Aegis I am soliciting suggestions on, is probably home-repairable. And in terms of lifespan... CF experts say it's up at the top in the right conditions.

That being said, cutting edge racing tech, (and even worse, the knock off versions and CF use in mid-level bikes), has significant problems when it becomes part of the general consumer marketplace, due to CF's unique failure issues and lack of awareness on the part of consumers.

Looking at the CPSC mandated changes to Campagnolo's NR/SR components, they seem quaint, and as they did at the time to many, a solution in search of a problem.

The potential CF mess... Not so much. The current state of problems with older one owner CF bikes, second hand sales of bikes with CF frames, forks, and components, seems like perhaps the tip of a iceberg...

Lawsuits are increasing as CF failures become more common among non-competitive and casual cyclists. Will every piece of CF come with cigarette type warning labels? How about a visible dye that permanently stains the carbon fiber, when its safety has been compromised. (Dang, where is my patent attorney?)

"Are you looking for one of these?"

Trying to make my CF Aegis safe to ride around town, Eric

Columbus Forcella? Is that another name for SL? Anyway, the Lotus website says these came in 50, 52, 54, 56, etc. I have a 56cm 84 Legend Compe(same year) and various "cousin" frames (Lotus, Centurion, SR) in 50-56cm. This looks more like a 54 or at least a 52. Does anyone else think so? I don't have a Facebook account. I don't really want one either. I will be in Fredericksburg on Monday. What's another 60ish miles to Leesburg? Maybe I should join Facebook and ask about those measurements.
