I'm sure that you could perfectly explain these swings given the chemicals surging about in the moment, but I guess that doesn't do much good, does it? Maybe some visualization work would help for the next time.

Tomorrow's ride will have a start temp of about 27F but will warm to above freezing within 1-2 hours. I am in a quandary because I KNOW my hands will be effing cold if I just wear gloves, and will be toasty warm if I wear my mittens. But the feedback from the road and dexterity of shifting/braking is far superior with gloves.

I suspect the best answer is start with mittens and change to gloves after it warms up....but seems like too much extra bulk to carry.

If I get upset I typically just withdraw into myself even further than usual.

Have you tried wearing exam gloves under your riding gloves? I've done that in similar situations and it got the job done. Hands get clammy, but they stay warm enough and there's less to stow when you do take them off.

The cat usually wants out on the deck after breakfast. Opened the door. He got 2/3 of the way out and said "Never mind." It was 22 degrees.

I flipped off a woman while driving home yesterday. She was doing 45 in the left lane of a 50 MPH zone, which in NJ means 60 MPH minimum. I finally went around her. As I did I saw her eyes down looking at the phone in her hands. Pulled in front of her and gave her the bird. Doubt she saw it. Kept glancing back and could see that she was still driving slowly as others were pulling around her. NY plates. So she should know better. Hand held is illegal in both NJ and NY.

I absolutely lost my mind one summer morning maybe 6 years ago. Dude came WAY too close in a little two-lane road that I was hyper sensitive about because it was the single tightest spot in the Dallas part of my commute. I screamed something because I saw he had the windows down and he decided to stop so we could have a chat. He looked at me and seemingly with a sincere attitude he said "Man, share the road." That was the moment I went from agitated cyclist to belligerent madman. If I typed out what I said, the censor would filter out most of it.

MN *finally* adopted a hands-free law, but, unlike NY, enforcement has been almost non-existent. If someone is driving like an idiot around here, it's a good 50% chance that they've got a phone in hand; I see it multiple times per day.

Back when I got lasik (Best thing I EVER did) I was given steroid eye drops. I was lucky enough to find out that I was in the small percentage of people who could taste them filtering past my eyes and down the back of my throat. Then after a bit of lingering pain in one eye, they extended the steroid drops. Awful.

A driver said that to me/my riding buddy last year in a similar situation and it set me off, too. I was at least composed enough to know that fighting in road shoes wouldn't be wise, so I slammed his door shut on him (twice!) when attempted to get out on us.

Philly had a no hand phone and no texting law. You had to pulled over in a non-travel lane with the car in park. Then the state passed a no texting law that preempted local laws.

One day the ex and I were walking in town on the sidewalk of a one way street with traffic coming towards us. Dude drives by. We could see he was looking down at his phone. A couple of seconds later we hear tires squeal and then "BAM!" We turned around. Due had rearended a car in front of him that was stopped for a red light.

I like to think I read the situation enough to know he wasn't the "get out of the car" type, but truthfully I was lucky he wasn't a nut or wasn't packing heat with an itch to use it. This is Texas, after all. Definitely not my finest hour.

Yep. That's when I'm happy to hang around and wait for the law. "This is what I saw......" At the very least, I'll give them my card, and let them know I'm willing to testify. That's happened more often than I'm actually comfortable with, to be honest. It seems I witness my fair share. I have a pretty good opening line, when the insurer calls on the fool at fault. "I can't believe you insure that guy. As bad as he drives, I know he didn't start out as a good driver."
