Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's annoying being there, but it's not bad. Someone has to monitor because there's a remote chance the patient could have a bad reaction.

In the world of medicine, I’ve got an appointment in the AM and then a routine injection in the afternoon. That makes 4 hospital visits this week. Tomorrow afternoon, I’ve been told the screening/security is intensive because it’s a cancer treatment center with a lot of vulnerable patients undergoing treatments. I’ll be glad to be done with these appointments and I can get back to holing up inside except for cycling.

Disregard.

Let us know how it is and POIDH.

Wonder if I should post my soon-to-arrive 11 lbs of whey protein in the "What bike **** did you just buy?" thread.

My walk to and from the liquor store went by a number of closed restaurants. It reminded me of my time bartending and serving and made me think about how many food service folks are going to get absolutely ****ed in the coming weeks. I mean, the BOH should be fine if they ramp up delivery, but what are the FOH doing?

You know how George Carlin did a bit on the 7 words you can't say on TV?

I should do a bit on the 27 words you can't say on BF.

Did you finish those shelves in the garage?

Oy. It seems as if the, uh... well, let's just say that they're not exactly the academically elite, are now sharing misleading COVID19 vs H1N1 comparisons via social media to downplay the significance of what we're facing. No comment on the source or motivation, but the effect of the deceit would not be good if significant numbers were to take this to heart and decide that the level of concern and recommended measures were unwarranted.

Thanks. I've had one before, but this time they packed it with an antiseptic soaked cloth for a couple of days. Supremely uncomfortable.

With that taken out and finally voting today, I think that's all the planned expeditions out among the unwashed masses for the foreseeable future.

My long time bartender friend has lost her shifts. Stopped by a liquor store on the way home from NJ yesterday and bought her a bottle of Chardonnay.

I will be ok. So thrifty. What bothers me more is admin told us we need to cut staff by 30%. They suggested layoffs. Our staff are so good and such a precious resource, so we are going to try to keep everyone and see if we can adjust their hours a bit. It will still hurt, no doubt. The ripple effects of the COVID19 are big and bad. My hope is that these effects will only be with us for a few months.

The people are supremely important and much may be asked of them.

Will try to get out for a ride when my a.m. calls are over. I hear the roads are wonderfully quiet.
