Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think that's at least better than being set up to fail by your parents. And glad you found your way back to the path of health. A number of my relatives couldn't manage that.

Nothing as annoying as my coworker who says "I'm so much healthier since I quit smoking" as he blows chunky clouds from his vape. And after we'd finally made progress against nicotine, a whole new generation is hooked en masse. The vapes should have been banned from the outset. With no established base, there was no reason to allow them to build a market.

And Trek Travel not only still has nothing on their site about Covid, they're still selling packages in Spain for April. Maybe they won't let you all the way through checkout, but...

Hey indyfabz will you respect the city’s order to shelter in place? Think the state will follow?

It sounds like some Fed regulations on truck driver hours have been suspended, for drivers shipping emergency supplies

https://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-sus...ts-11584200091

Some time ago, the truck driving industry funded a study to determine why driver turnover, > 100% annually, is so high. The study found, essentially, "you treat them like crap". Never mind, said the industry.

Sleepy truck drivers is no joke. I agree with suspending the rules, but the market forces on this industry push it to make decisions that are not in the public's best interest.

Oh, I'm not booking now. No chance. I looked out of curiosity at how they're handling it, and "we're not" isn't good. I was expecting "full refund guaranteed if this is still an issue".

Not sure when we'll travel by plane next; if things are cooler later in the year we might drive to Boulder or NOLA. Or to NY, if AG's parents need babysitting.

The last thing we need are 88,000 pound "missles" with a sleepy navigation system!
Hard to social distance into the cab of an OTR truck, so team driving is out the window.

If we had enough tests, we could test them and then pair them.

Caused some transient marital disharmony this evening by requesting a manifest and stowage plan for the freezer, which my wife, in what may yet turn out to be admirable foresight, has stuffed with food.

We have Canadian friends who have had two flights cancelled. The original and the make-up one. They are settling in for the long haul. Thankfully, they own their house. We have two other friends driving north, and due to hit the (closed) border tomorrow. Vamos a ver.

We're going to leave the fridge and freezer permanently stuffed, which I hate in general but is a good plan right now.

In worse news, my dad and much of my old hometown have been laid off because the casinos are closed, which has not happened since they opened. Very fortunate that both AG and I are in tech.

A search suggests I should use alcohol hand sanitizer to lube the rubber brake hood and ease installation.

Know where I can get some?

This raises a question.

If you click on the tweet you see people practicing social distancing in various places.

My question for Addiction MDs: Is this sufficient to contain transmission of the dreaded virus. I see tweets about it being able to survive for hours on hard surfaces or even in the air.
