Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Zwift has a pretty good variety of workouts posted, including several programs tailored to various goals, and the ability to make your own. I did most of an FTP-improving series this fall and winter, which actually improved my FTP (as measured on the trainer). Lately, have been working through the Etape du Tour prep series because they're mostly doable and about one hour, which is my limit after 10 min to warm up and calibrate, etc. One caution is that most of the programs are designed for consecutive days with no real miles, so if you're riding outside and racking up stress that way, you may not be able to bang out the next workout on the following day.

I don't know whether it's the extra road time, no weights, the anxiety, or what, but I am slowly losing weight and it's probably not a good thing. You really don't want to go into the ICU too light.

I just live to spread good news!

He actually doesn’t want us doing intensity or big durations either, but me having a nervous breakdown won’t help anything. He’s also extra sensitive to this because his wife needed a bone marrow transplant and is permanently immunocompromised.

Deep dish isn’t pizza anyway - it’s a regional abomination from the tundra.

I've heard similar recommendations. Un/fortunately, with the kids' school and activities squashed, I don't have time for the 3 - 4 hour rides, anyway. I mean, I guess I could, but that would mean leaving my wife alone with the kids and she just isn't practiced at keeping them occupied at home; they drive her nuts in short order.

Yeah, I can see how that would lead to erring on the side of caution.

They need the extra carbs.

And if I don’t self-medicate with exercise, I’m going to be an absolute wreck. Just trying to not leave myself shelled and vulnerable.

This morning they say we peak in August. They must have found a way to flatten the curve

At work we were just told this morning to expect to be WFH for “quite a while”. Not sure what it means, and I doubt they know, but they’re buying desks and monitors for people who need them. AG is now told she’s WFH until mid-April, but that’s later than she was initially told and I assume it will be extended again.

The scroll wheel on my mouse at work just died, so I asked IT for a replacement.

It's a super cheap Amazon Basics one that is absolutely tiny. In the first few moments of using it I'm starting to worry that extensive use will end up causing some cramping issues.

I really don't want to bring my mouse from home, but I don't really use my computer that much there so it might be worth it.

As with spare bike parts, this is frustrating - I have piles of decent normal mice I don’t need.

Did IT first tell you to re-start your computer?
