They say "There are a very limited number of bikes available for spring delivery."

Delivery is quite fast = May (2020 I guess).

Such offers of course delay the delivery of backers bikes.

Although i do not have vision on the backer's situation i think that he is being fair. Opening the orders in short burst to boost cash flow while still maintaining backer's bikes is probably the best way for helix to subsist while still keeping their promises.

Saddle mount

Saddle post Saddle rail lock Carbon rail mounting is not possible.

The carbon rail is thick and cannot be mounted.

Saddle mount assembly is very inconvenient

Improve the thickness extension required for carbon rail mounting

And you're getting pushed back by new orders if I understand the situation correctly. I just don't see the point anymore, man. You could spend that money on something you can actually RIDE.

Side orders

Seems to be taking longer for them to fulfill the current quota of side orders. On the previous occasions, the ten offered were grabbed within the day. Either there are more this time, or sales are slowing...

The problem is that besides some enthusiastic people, for people comparing Helix with other folding bikes, Helix didn't fulfill its promises:
- Cheap titanium bike: its not cheap anymore.
- Lightweight folding bike: its not lightweight anymore.
- Easy to use bike: there are no accessories making the bike easy to use for commuting, leisure or travel: no mudguard, no front or rear rack, no possibility to carry anything on the bike, no case, no lighting (hub dynamo)... just nothing.

And the drawbacks remains: very complex design exposed to dirt, bad wheel size, bad tire width, very limited choice of tires...

The other problem is the market evolution since the start of the Kickstarter campaign: the folding bike market doesn't grow anymore, customers want electric assist folding bikes, nothing is foreseen to add an electric assist to Helix, as most folding bikes, its difficult to add an electric assist on Hellix and the weight of Helix will probably end-up in a relatively heavy electric assist bike.

Helix has filled their quota and are now accepting orders for May. Still no word on the next update and we are approaching week 3 since the last announcement was posted.

Latest update

There was an update.
They continue to manufacture, which is still allowed in spite of the corona virus shutdown in Ontario.
This time, they seem to begin catching up with their own predictions. Last month they expected to deliver bike 400 by end of March, now it is 360. Considering everything going around, that sounds encouraging.
Some equipment that is expected to speed welding time considerably is expected in two months, by which time they expect to reach more or less full production, if I understood correctly.
accessories are under design, with samples expected May and delivery in summer.
parts for the ultralight kit are arriving.

I thought for sure they would be shut down with the recent provincial announcement. At least they are still producing bikes albeit at a slower rate. Given the current atmosphere businesses are facing, yes, then it is encouraging news. I wish all the best for Peter and his team as they forge on in these trying times.

I rather understood that the rate is going faster, not slower!

An order from Paul etc and I got the perfect bike. I only need one bike know.
Before I got my road bike for speed and a 1880 Penny Farthing for speed and get laid. Helix get both. Plus I can go anywhere and transform it to a package. Before folding bikes where never my thing. This is something else.
It’s a stiff bike. For me it’s a racer.
The Helix and my daughter I would take to a dessert island.
Get a hold on one before it’s to late.
Sounds like a good match to me.
Congratulations!

Yep. It's a great bike. It's a nice balance of trade-offs for its size and flexibility. Sure, some accessories would be nice, but in the meantime, an inexpensive handlebar bag, a detachable (and cheap!) seat post rack, and a clamp on water bottle holder work great!

Just fired off an email to Peter and the team to inquire about the next update. Anyone else try reaching out? It's been over three weeks since the last announcement.

The Backer prices are still on the Kickstarter website. I tried to post the link but this forum won’t let me. Just google Helix Kickstarter bike and you’ll find it.
