Addiction LXXVII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looks about right based on data at hand.

FWIW I have a MSE in mathematical modeling from that snooty place and worked as a P&C actuary for a few years.

While doing some real miles yesterday, saw a group ride pass in opposite direction
2 tandems and 6 others, all in tight drafting formation people just don't get it still.

In other news, I felt smooth, but was still slow

There was supposed to have been a tornado aloft around west side of Peoria but I haven’t heard of any damage. Soon as the sun comes up, I’m going to take a quick walk around the house to see what all was blowing around. Anyway, turned out to be more of a severe storm and high winds for us.

Today’s forecast is for 35-45 mph winds.

Probably made down the hill from me ~1930.

The tractor, not the bike..

A house around the corner from us is still decorated for Halloween.

I’m guessing they went to FL for the winter right after and haven’t returned.

We have a Costco right near the office - I used to buy gas there on a regular basis. But I got an electric car, and never need gas. For that matter I am "sheltering" at our home in Delaware, and rarely go back into DC.

To be honest, I’ve never had a need for them so I’ll defer to LAJ on the recommendation.

Not big on mustard or ketchup either, actually. The whole condiments thing somehow passed me by. Ketchup doesn't turn my stomach like the other two, but a sandwich with even a dab of mustard or mayo is destroyed.

No more rides with you. You have been removed from my friends list and I've placed you on ignore.

Sad.

Judging by what I read here and my own observations of people's behavior in my part of the world, the corona virus pandemic is likely to become a much worst pandemic due to the cavalier attitude toward the threat. I can understand the mistrust in leadership but I don't understand the mistrust of science. I have a partial theory that watching TV makes people stupid so maybe that's it. In any case, maintaining social distancing would help reduce the spread of infection but for an old guy like myself I'm going to a more austere level of distancing due to the increased threat to my age group. If I still owned a sailboat I would embark on a solo round the word voyage.
