Your post led me to disengage my Carl Strong Foco steel racer from its own bondage on the trainer for a jaunt tomorrow. Thanks. I have missed the old girl. Looking forward to a cruise on Force 10 speed and Spinergy Stealth PBO wheels from back in the day.

To a point. The LandShark is generally in the Super Competition class, which has an 8.90 breakout. That means you can't go quicker than that time. The difference in that rail compared to others, is the wheelbase. Those are around 200 inches, give or take a foot or two, either way, compared to the full sized jobbies, that carry the full 300 inches. Trailering them, and storing them is the upside, along with maneuverability around the pits. The pro classes get all the help and space they need in the pits, and the sportsmen classes get the dirt and the cheap seats.

In 2001 I got a CAAD5 which is a stiff frame but compared to the Tesch it was smooth. My Seven feels a lot like the CAAD5, great on smooth roads or in a twisty canyon but jarring on crappy roads.

So, just looked at my ride on Strava from this morning. In 35 minutes, I managed a little over 99 miles. Average speed of 167 mph. I did hit 220 mph in the sprint. Not bad for 140 watts.

Charge Spoon. All my saddles end up a little bit nose up, if you look at the rear it's parallel to the ground. That's where my sitbones hit so it both keeps me from sliding forward but still doesn't cause any other pressure issues.

I worked with a guy who did bracket racing with a Vega with a 500 inch big block. Talk about an expensive hobby! Race car, maintenance/tires, gotta have a trailer and a truck to pull it with, fuel, entry fees, etc. Makes high end bicycling look cheap. He did have a little help from sponsors but his big break came when he was offered a ride with a team that owned 2 cars that were faster than his Vega. All he had to do was show up and drive.

I hauled and changed rear tires on pit stops a car for a guy and team based here. He earned the nickname of High Plains Drifter from Larry Nuber when we were racing the Milwaukee Mile one year. It stuck. Racers with nicknames are the best.

The second fall in 9/18 is what finally did her back in. That was 11 fractures including 3 vertebrae. Her spine is lumpy as heck but the orthos say there is nothing they can do - no surgeries, reconstruction, etc. Just this morning, she asked me to rub her back and it almost made me cry to feel the irregularities in her spine.
Poor girl went from 5k miles a year to ~800 miles a year and almost all is now on a tadpole trike.

I am not always that fond of my somewhat fussy neighbors as a group, but today on the listserv there was a long series of posts from people who were committed to paying their housekeepers, landscapers, and nannies to stay home for the duration. We are going to need a lot of that spirit going forward.
