Not exactly in the post but a friend dropped these off in the mailbox today. He's going modern so these are surplus to him.
Cheers.

John, Thanks again for the calipers. I had a chance to soak the steel bits in oxalic acid, cleaned them up a bit, took a file to the pad surfaces, and mounted them on my Cilo. This bike gets a lot of use as my commuter, errand bike, and gravel/Eroica bike (if that ever happens again). I tend to bring a lot of gear on my commute. As a teacher, I usually have a heavy stack of papers and books, computer, change of clothes, etc. Plus, I work at the top of relatively steep hill. Coming down the hill with loaded panniers, it would take some advance planning to stop in time with my old Gran Sport brakes and hardened, original pads. It was actually a bit dangerous, to be honest. Anyway, these Record calipers are a vast improvement! I'm really happy with the enhanced braking ability, plus they look great, too. I think I'm finally done upgrading this bike. Here are those "after" pics you requested, plus a "during" pic for good measure.

Set of brownwall Panracer Gravel King SK 700x35 for the 1980 Schwinn Voyageur 11.8 Chrome. Just need to install the chain, bar tape and new decals and she will be good as new (Maybe better) and ready to ride. Kinda reminds me of a World War II bomber.

Those look pretty good and I realize you're done with them.
Next time you have some bits that crusty, go after them with Turtle wax chrome polish and rust remover once they have been soaked.
The Turtle wax will clean the rust like this up another 50% if you soak them in it and scrub with a brass bristle brush.

merziac Thanks for the tip. I have a secret sauce which I like to use called Quick-Glo. It sounds similar to what you're recommending. I saw Quick-Glo on one of Jay Leno's car restoration shows and they were going on about how well it works for car restoration, so I gave it a shot. Works great! Non-toxic, made in U.S.A, works on a variety of metals, and makes quick work of surface rust. I'd recommend it, too.

Gaucho,
I've been using it since the mid 70's. When the chrome has been deleted or worn down to just the steel, I use Quick-Glo with a small Dremel brass or steel brush on slow speed and then clear coat it before rust can reform on the part. this process has saved my bacon more than once. Smiles, MH

If you used it on tires like the QG can be used it would not be good. A few years ago they had to tone it down a bit as the last formula became unsellable in California for being too toxic, so it used to work even better but its still pretty potent stuff especially when you soak, slather and scrub.
Your brakes got my attention looking at the cable adjusters, these always seem to be in a bad state, I found a stray awhile back that was bad and it was about 80% restored despite being very nasty to start with.

Rather long Zeus cone wrench. What's the rationale for needing so much leverage in that application? (I assume it's a cone wrench, not a pedal wrench?)

Skip,
I'm pretty sure that it is a pedal wrench. Today's delivery from my favorite UPS girl:
Now I can build the front wheel for the Raleigh rebuild. The 10 mm rim tape was a bit hard to source, but the perfect fit for the Weinmann LP18 rims. Smiles,MH

FWIW, my friend used it as a pedal wrench.
Cheers.

Not in the post, but I picked up some of those chunky early Chorus brake levers at Community Cycling Center here in Portland:

I purchased downtube decals for my ItalVega from Gus Salmon. I don't know how long I had them tucked away, but when I eventually tried to apply them, they curled up and cracked in the water. I purchased another pair and they sat for a couple years anyway. After a couple failed attempts to connect up with people having experience sticking decals to bike frames, I finally sucked it up and with a bit of help from my lovely wife, applied them successfully.

N + 1 = Out of room, so I bought a Delta Cycle Michelangelo rack off of Amazon that was on my doorstep today. It stacks two bikes vertically, it's free standing and I was able to perform an assembilism with a phillips screwdriver in about 5 minutes, sturdy, well built, and all the screw holes are pre-threaded and line up. Not junk and 100 lb capacity according to the paperwork that came with it.
This is not my photo or my house because my office is a disaster.

Nemosengineer nice! Also, it’s good to hear a positive initial review on such a product from a fellow C&V member.
It won’t be long until the Benotto is built, bringing my n= up to two. But there isn’t enough floor space in my upstairs studio apartment to comfortably keep 2 bikes. I’ve tried several times.
One of these racks looks like the best solution.

+1 on the E-ne bell. I like mine and I'm using it a LOT these days on those folks who cannot figure out distancing. Sound seems to carry real well and easy to use. There are still a few folks who cannot hear anything and have no idea what's going on nor how to behave. The new normal.

It's a very pleasant sounding bell that makes people aware you want to pass instead of tells them to sod off.
I went into the city centre to grab a few parts but I noticed I was really missing a bell on my bike as people are just oblivious to their surroundings at the moment.
So I grabbed one on the way out.
I think I will go and make a short video to show the difference between the E-ne, spurcycle and a classic Dutch Gazelle ding-dong bell.
