Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I’m interested if they get around to rigging it up so I can use it with a real power meter to evaluate position.

I did the Alphamantis version of aerotesting with my fitter, who works out of the velodrome in Carson, CA. Due to technical issues with the venue we had to do the testing twice.

His outdoor testing uses the pitot tube but I haven't done that type of testing.

200 dollars worth of trash has been covered ad nauseum. As WhyFi states, save your bucks for a real power meter, because there really are no majik ones out there.

This is why I don't much care for Stages....

At 250w

Stages gen 2 175mm for gravel bike: 250w
Stages gen 2 165mm for TT/road: 220w

That's exactly what I was referring to. RChung could tell you all about it, I'm sure, but there are also some CyclingTips podcasts on the subject.

Nowadays there is quite a bit of ground cover established and baby trees popping up all the time. Some of the first trees to emerge from the ash are getting pretty tall by now. I should see if I have more pics from my 2015 hike, here's the two I could find...
Were they the, um . . . . . ash trees?

Yes, that's true. I got one a few years back - I got used to having decent power data while riding the trainer, and couldn't find a combination of pedal/crank that I liked for my outdoor bike. It was pretty cheap, so I got one. Once the novelty of the thing wore off, I sort of stopped using it. I recall that it would shut itself off if I stopped for a break, and that was annoying as well.

It is still there on the bike, and still paired to the Elemnt, but I don't bother to charge it, and it probably needs re-calibration. I have this vague recollection that it not only had a pitot tube, but also an accelerometer. It needs to be paired with a speed sensor. DC Rainmaker did all sorts of side-by-side tests - the accuracy wasn't as bad as you might think.

Just dropped off the wheels at a nearby shop for sealant. Pretty busy. There were three people outside waiting to pick up. Happy for them.

For the ball sports fans, they're also doing stories on baseball's biggest cheaters, Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire.
