@Heathpack did a lot of aerotesting using that exact method. Well... The indoor velodrome method, anyway. Constant repeatable power, using a real power meter, and an aero/fit expert.
His outdoor testing uses the pitot tube but I haven't done that type of testing.

200 dollars worth of trash has been covered ad nauseum. As WhyFi states, save your bucks for a real power meter, because there really are no majik ones out there.
This is why I don't much care for Stages....

The blast zone and flow zones are pretty damn big. It's been interesting to see the changes over the years, even though my first visit was 12 years after it blew.
My first hikes around the mountain were super ashy/dusty, being well into the blast zone seemed like being on the moon. Nowadays there is quite a bit of ground cover established and baby trees popping up all the time. Some of the first trees to emerge from the ash are getting pretty tall by now. I should see if I have more pics from my 2015 hike, here's the two I could find...

It is still there on the bike, and still paired to the Elemnt, but I don't bother to charge it, and it probably needs re-calibration. I have this vague recollection that it not only had a pitot tube, but also an accelerometer. It needs to be paired with a speed sensor. DC Rainmaker did all sorts of side-by-side tests - the accuracy wasn't as bad as you might think.

I just missed out on a wheelset - some Mavics laced to Chris King hubs, rotors and cassette included for $50. I messaged 8 mins after post. Just not fast enough
