I'm slowly transitioning from my Hybrid to my Road bike which means I have a little down time with the Hybrid which means it's getting it's Spring Cleaning today. This is a deep cleaning. Everything but the BB and Headset are coming apart and getting cleaned.

More carbon goodness. Used my Dremel with a thin cut-off disc to shorten the bar to the appropriate length. My LBS kindly gave me just enough carbon assembly paste to complete the job.




Also, made the decision last week to de-badge the Fulcrum wheels.

Thanks for the vote of reassurance. I wasn't sure at first but knew immediately that it was the right call after the first couple of decals came off…..and believe me it was not a pleasant task as the residue that they left behind was arduously stubborn. A heat gun on low in combination with a soft plastic trim remover/scraper, a rag dampened with Goo Gone and a bit of elbow grease worked quite well in removing all twelve stickers with the exception of the red stylized F logos.

I cut my handlebars down and then rode it.. and made it a little dirty.
Still waiting on my bar ends to come in so I can put those on.

Put a new Black Brooks B17 saddle on the FX. Loving it. Feels great right out of the box. I haven't had one in about 40 years and I'm wondering why I waited so long to get another.

Few weekends ago, I was finally able to have my Rockshox Paragon installed. Was thinking of upgrading to a 1x11 drivetrain......but I'm not really sold on spending $300 for an entire new drivetrain. Nothing really wrong with the Alivio/Altus setup, so may just keep it for now till it breaks and then replace the whole set. I am definetly not sold on my top tube bag. Shopping for a better bag, either on the handlebar or something more streamlined on the top tube. Suggestions are welcomed!

I recently installed a F3 Cycling FormMount as well as an add-on light/camera adapter to the stem of my Metrix. Both items were purchased together on clearance and I suspect that they might have been old stock or perhaps a result of a return. Depending on one's stem configuration, the kit includes two different lengths of bolts with spacers along with attachments for Garmin and Wahoo bike computers. The F3 FormMount can be fitted to virtually any 4-bolt bike stem in either upper or lower bolt holes via its rotating arms. You could even install the mount rearward so that it sits over the stem. For now, I've opted to position it on the upper location as it provides great access to Garmin's lower keys and also allows adequate clearance between the bike light and cables. The only minor setback is that since it is fixed it cannot be tilted up. Not ideal if you have a negative rise stem.

The light/camera add-on mount is sold separately and simply bolts to the bottom of the base mount. Overall, I’m quite pleased with the FormMount. It’s sturdy, robust, versatile and best of all it declutters the bar.

Thanks. I took it along for a ride yesterday and the mount was solid. Also, placing it at the upper bolt location appears to be the ideal spot for me.

I second this. I actually quite liked the decals on it, but when I saw the bike with them removed it is a much cleaner look. And I like that you left the red F on. Very nice.

Just bought a 2021 Trek FX Sport Carbon 4 - in the last two weeks, I've changed the saddle, seatpost, handlebars, and today, replaced the stem........I've got another full carbon saddle on the way.......

Not mine, but I enjoyed working on it. Girlfriend found this Batavus Comanche in her attic; it's supposedly her brother's who lived in the house before relocating abroad.
I gave it a good cleaning, pumped up the tires, flushed the shifters which had gunked up, adjusted the brakes, the headset, handlebar tilt and brake lever/shifter angle, and now it is ready to serve as a bike fod house guests should they need one. Turned out to be a nice bike, lugged Cro-Mo frame, full Shimano STX groupset in great condition, riveted Rigida rims etc. If the frame weren't too small for me, I'd want to take it out for a longer ride than a 5 km test ride, since it rides real nice.

That old STX groupset is nice. It looks like it may be STX-RC, which was 8 speed. I have regular STX on my Trek 750 (7 speed) and, with modern shifters, it indexes as well as any other derailleur out there. It's also got a right firm spring in it...it doesn't flop around like some of Shimano's later derailleurs do. That Batavus is a nice bike!

It's STX-SE (MC31), 3x7. And yes, it shifts flawlessly. Only the gear indicator for the front shifter doesn't work but that's a non issue in my view, it's kind of hard to not know on which chainring you are.

Put on my Race Face Atlas pedals, contour grips, and some Xpel film on the front tube to keep the brake hose from rubbing.
