This is just waaay too funny. A rare Tour de France bike. Yeah, right!
https://kpr.craigslist.org/bik/d/ric...131517088.html
"This is a one of a kind 1948 CMC (Cleveland Motor Company) bicycle. CMC is wildly known as a motorcycle builder many years ago. This was designed for the Tour De France bike race’s in the 40’s. 99.9% original. The only thing not original are the tires. You will not find another one like it anywhere except for a museum in Canada. I spoke with the curator from the museum and he told me that this bike is the first one he has known of, or seen period. Very Rare. I have been offered $150 just for the handlebars! The Brooks Leather seat is also original and valued highly. Trade For Gibson Guitars, Fender Guitars and or guitar amps. Possible trade for something other then instruments. What do you have? Own a very rare piece of racing bike history. The bike rides great! "

I know this isn't exactly classic or vintage but sure seems fishy.

The truly terrifying part of this thread is that if you go back, often just several pages (a few days) and check the actual ads some will be still valid and some will be expired but some will show as"sold"!
That means people are buying if not all, at least some of these wrecks or simply over-priced junk. If that doesn't scare you what will?

This isn't a Craigslist or Ebay add but I found it interesting.
It's a used Miyata Seven Ten that can be had for only $899.00 USD.
https://budgetbicyclectr.com/1985-mi...ycle-60cm.html
Is the seller dreaming at that price?
Cheers

BBC is anything but budget to the buyer.
A long tradition. The approach must work to a point as the place has endured.
maybe Budget Busting cyclery?

this was $80, but I see the seller might be coming to their senses? wacky not so much in terms of what it is and the price, but the description is hilarious.
i guess $80, now $60, is a "fortune"?
https://tricities.craigslist.org/bik...127030470.html
Real nice 70s bike quality made in Australia for Sears. A bike of this quality would cost a fortune to buy. Just need some extra room. Steal at 60

Maybe its the Australian Ted Williams!
heh.
while Searrs actually sold some decent bikes in the past (in the 1960s I had a sears 3-speed that was made in England, and was as nice a bike as my friend's Raleigh, it might have been lighter even, and it did NOT have the odd component sizes that Raleigh was known for back then. I'm not sure who made those early Sears bikes. This bike had a coaster rear brake, and a sidepull caliber front brake. I am vaguely remembering it had an odd tire size in common with the Raleigh 3-speed, I think it was the 'other' 26", ETRI 590mm, not the 26" 559mm used on cruisers/mountain bikes, and not the 27" (630mm) common on low-to-mid 10-speeds of that era.
