So when I got home last night my wife surprised me with a bunch of cycle gear.
pair of bibs
capris for the fall
gloves
glasses
multi tool
socks
She got me a gel seat cover and a saddle bag too. Going to return these, my bum hasn’t been bothering me and the saddle bag is huge. It was definitely designed for touring.
She is pretty Amazing.

and yes, diving off Cozumel is quite good. I’d like to spend more time on the island to look-see, but for now, I’m content with day trips for dives. The kids are old enough now that they may enjoy a day outside the resort.

Unless a lot has changed for the better since the early 90s, there’s not much to see. I circumnavigated the island on a cruiser. The National Park, Chackanab or something, was decent, but very crowded in March. Good place to snorkel or dive. The island seemed to get a lot of business from cruise ships that would dock for the day. Both times I stayed at a hotel south of the center. There was a huge dock next door. Every morning at least one ship would pull up. Lines of taxis formed to take passengers into town. The funniest thing was that there was a daily afternoon booze cruise on a large pontoon boat. You could set you watch by its return to the dock to the sound of “Hot! Hot! Hot!” The not nice part were the ugly American tourists who were probably too hungover in the morning to get off the ship. In the afternoon they would finally walk over to the hotel, which had a wonderful, covered outdoor bar/seating area that overlooked the strait. They would sit there and get drunk, get loud and sometimes abuse the staff. “Una cerveza mas, Pepe!”One guy had a beer hard hat on. One group was calling their waiter Bababoey, the name of a guy on the Howard Stern show.

I've shortened my rides up a little this week. I had a couple good weeks and my old body is telling me to rest a little. Also, grass pollen is way up which forces me to ride shorter and easier and it's hotter and more humid, too.
Let's see, did I leave anything out? Age, hay fever, heat and humidity - I think I've got it covered.

My hopes of getting out were heavily frowned upon by the doc, yesterday. And he's right, of course. Though I now have limited movement in those three fingers, I have nothing remotely resembling grip strength. And there is still a good bit of pain when they move too far. Daily walks are in my forseeable future.

Triumph TRs have a loyal following. The newest models are nearly 40 years old. They are shade-tree mechanic friendly. Fun to drive. And, concours level cars notwithstanding, reasonably affordable compared to other marks that people collect.

Yeah. I've realized that that's one of the main features of kids. To mark the passage of time.

And then at some point, the elderly take up that role. In between, though.........
