I recently rebuilt using Jagwire brand for both types. Satisfied.

I first go through the pile of cables taken off of old bikes, former rear cables, now too short, trim down and use for front, etc., and when I need new cables generally use Jagwire, inner and outer.

Their kits include decent step down ferrules that work well in Shimano DP calipers.

No hate for Jagwire here. It's on all my family's bikes (because I built them) and I find the completeness of their "sets" to be extremely convenient. My only gripe is their printed logo every so often on the housing. Hard or impossible to get it hidden everywhere.

I used porkchopbmx.com one time, because of their color selection on housing - and so happy = a multi repeat customer now.

Dura Ace polymer brake inners with SLR housing. Jagwire is the only shift housing I have on hand, so that's what I use for the RD loop. SRAM SlickWire for the RD shift inner.

I just bought 100 Alhonga stainless road brake cables and 100 stainless derailleur cables. Housing is alligator brand, a shop brand here in Canada. I have some other housing with no name but it is lined.

I have used a generic cable housing that my LBS sells by the foot and it works real well and comes in colors except blue. The bike shop ordered a Shimano blue cable kit and I was a bit surprised at the price but after installing on my Windsor , it was worth every penny. Joe

Mostly Jagwire for my newest bikes, and no complaints. I've been digging the plain brass ferrules Rivendell sells, and use those where applicable. IIRC I used Shimano shifter cables on my relatively new Mercian audax, mostly because the Jagwire was hard to cut without fraying the decorative braid too much to fit into a ferrule, plus I had some.
I've used the VO braided cable too. I think it's nice. Seems to me to be Jagwire without the branding, but no way to know this for sure. Any color you want as long as it's silver. (they do have old school looking colored cable housing too.)

I just looked at my main rides, and noticed that despite using Jagwire cable sets, I didn't actually use the Jagwire ferrules anywhere, so subconsciously I must agree.

I've been using the Jagwire sets on everything and think it's great stuff..... Cables/housing is so cheap and lasts so long for me that saving the old stuff is simply silly. I've had no problems cutting the Jagwire using Shimano cutters.

I use Campagnolo sets, but all of my bikes are Camoy equip’d, except my old Raleigh which us shimano 600 & I used shimano cables.

I'm kinda "anything and everything," too. Starting with whatever I have on hand, then going to eBay or Porkchop to see if I can find exactly the right color.
