Info/Year Basso frameset
I recently sold my red Torelli and I'm looking to replace it with another Italian. I found this Basso and hope to get info.

I’m sure better expertise will weigh in but I’m gonna say ‘79 or ‘80 with the portacatena dropout and over the bb routing. I don’t see a serial number but in the 80’s, the first digit denoted the year of manufacture.

Despite owning a few of them, I'm not a Basso expert either, but I believe that the Tretubi examples from that period were called the Arenaccia (see link below), which later became the Paris-Roubaix. My PR is Tretubi (they later switched to Chromor) and it a great bike in my opinion. And what Spaghetti said about the serial number is good info.

I'm going with the folks above...1980/81 Arrenaccia with tretubi Columbus Aelle tubing, perhaps? I doubt they used crappy tubing for the fork and stays, though.

Based on the tubing decal it's tretubi SL or SP, though it should be the former based on the frame size. However, the stays and forks would likely be Aelle. Gieven the Portacatena dropout, 1980-1981 wouldn't be far off.

Thanks everyone for the info and input. I decided not to continue pursuit of the frameset. Ebay seller didn't want paper money even though he lived 10 minutes from me and wanted payment thru ebay. I wasn't willing to pay sales tax when its unnecessary but I understood his position in avoiding his account getting suspended.
Second I dont think it was a big upgrade from the Torelli to this Basso.
