Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Get a bike fit. You can screw around until you do permanent damage or just go see an expert. It'll be worth it.

No clunks. Just can feel a little drag from brake rub. It could be the wheel flexing. Will try another QR and keep an eye on it. It’s a lower quality wheel that is 8 years old so I may just replace it with something better.

I also tried different handle bars on both bikes, 3 on one bike and 2 on the other. There are a lot of different shapes and dimensions.

you shouldn't be putting pressure on the bars. Do you do any core work?

If it's standard spokes you could get someone to put a tension meter on them.

You’re right, of course. I was making a point about a certain, overly audible and visible, segment of the armed population, the rest of whom, I assume, are no less sensible than the rest of humanity.

I think these points get to the heart of the matter. I can’t tell you how I learned to unweight my arms and use the core to support the upper body, but I know I can only do it on a bike that fits.

In the meantime, gel.

Not a good one, I'm afraid. There's a hot local athlete (she used to be on TV) who has yet to approve my follow request. Maybe I should show more leg on my profile pic?

I rode 34 miles this pre-winter evening and had zero flybys to stalk. Sad.

I was unfollowed by a local amazon, who commented on one of my pre-COVID, early season solos that she would have gladly gone with me, when I asked, a few weeks later, if she were riding that weekend.

As regards your back wheel issue, it is unlikely, but possible that the end of the axle sticks out too far, thus reducing the effectiveness of the qr.

How does one gain/lose Strava sex appeal? It it discussed in the General? I never go there.

When I have that kind of trouble, it is always on the left side.
