Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There is a man made dam that was built in the 1800s to help supply the city with water. That resulted in a little ria/cove area above the damn. Over the last few years the city has made improvements to that area. The water is very calm there. Lots of water fowl hang out. A local who was down there told me that’s where they took up residence a couple of years ago.

Decades ago there was a fish ladder built on the opposite bank for migrating species. I saw a guy reel in a 23” stripper not far from where I saw the beavers. One inch below the limit at the time.

There is a lot of rowing on the river above the dam. You’ve probably heard of the Dad Vail Regatta. There is a cable stretched across with lines that dangle into the water in case people are about to get swept over. The cable is often occupied by black cormorants.

I have moved away from power tools altogether. Trying out a new tack. But I will take you up on your advice.

I can't tell you how long my last one took to break down and go lumpy, but if you put in a lot of miles, that might well be worth it.

I just inspected and re-bandaged my wound from yesterday. Not bad at all, with the blood out of the way. The cut was parallel to the finger, so just a thin slice
