Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why? Other than a little looseness in one axle and the wear plates, the pedals still seem good.

If these are what goes with a Ultegra 6600-era pedal, they're only $10.00?

Not that one. There's one you can't see that may be loose.

I ate a lot of rabbit growing up. I've only had it in my adult years when bike touring in Spain and Mallorca.

We use Allscripts.

One of my ex-partners moved out of state and is now using Epic (which is popular with the big healthcare systems around here) and she HATES it.

I haven’t heard much good feedback on Epic. Most of our Ortho clients use Athena and seem to like it.

Physicians of my generation who trained on paper charts in general don't like ANY EMR. That includes me. I believe I was a better physician with a paper chart, but I accept that the times have changed.

Younger physicians who were trained on EMRs seem more adaptable and accepting.

When I woke this morning, I wasn't terribly bummed to hear that the passing car tires were rolling on wet pavement - storms moved through again last night, waking me more than once to wind, thunder and some enthusiastic hail - a good excuse for a recovery day.

I mean, I did stay up a little later than usual, refilling/inflating my tires, swapping out the chain, etc, etc after the swim yesterday, so it's mildly disappointing that I didn't get in a ride... but I got in a fair amount of work last week and I'm well ahead of pace for my 1k goal for the month, so whatever.

Physically, I'm actually feeling pretty decent. For a while, I felt like I was riding the edge - not overtly sore or fatigued, just... meh. I'm feeling damn near spunky at this point, so Wed will be a dilemma between getting in a good, long ride and joining the boys for a Wed Nighter and trying to tear their hearts out.

I am not really paying too much attention to the tubeless chatter, but I did not realize that a HOOKLESS rim (which are becoming more popular) must be used with tubeless and NOT tubed tires. At least that's what a GCN video told me.

Is that true? I wonder if availability of hooked rims will decrease and force us all to tubeless, similar to what happened with disc brakes becoming "standard" on new road bikes?

I eat maybe 5/year. The localish butcher that had the best ones retired and closed up shop a few years ago. Only know of one other source. It can be hit or miss. The last time I got one it was huge and somewhat tough.

When I toured in Spain the best meal I had was a half a grilled rabbit in onion sauce with roasted potatoes.

Two new hookless wheelsets have been introduced, but (among manufacturers of any significance) we're still probably able to count all of the available models on one hand - saying that they're becoming more popular is a bit of an over-sell.

That said, my Zipps are one of those new models. Yeah, you can only run them with tubeless tires, though you don't have to run them tubeless - you can stuff a tube in to those tubeless tires if you really want to.

In short, it's way too early to say that hookless will supplant hooked - I think that it'll take more time for wider/lower pressure to gain necessary traction before that could possibly happen - and I think that hooked options would still be around for a long time. But, even if Big Bicycle forces hookless upon you, you can still be a and toss in a tube.

Understood. But isn't putting a tube in a tubeless tire kinda ********, I mean stupid??

I may need to consult a pedal expert. I don't even see how the "cover" is supposed to install.
