Ordered waiting till Feb. 2021
I just ordered a mountain bike, and I have to wait until February, next year to pick it up. I can’t believe that I have to wait that long.

Probably be a bunch of Harleys for sale in about a month and a half. If you want something to ride in the interim.

I ordered a mountain bike two weeks ago Saturday and was given an estimate of January for the delivery so you are not alone.
In the mean time I'm starting to get everything together that I can think of that I will need for the new bike since I'm currently only a road rider. With everything bicycle being hard to get these days if I see something I know I'm going to need I just go ahead an order it since who knows if it will still be available in Dec. or Jan.

It's crazy out there right now. It's not just the shortage of bikes but also parts. components and accessories. I am glad I stocked up over the last couple of years.

Believe it. If you didn’t want to wait that long for a bike you should’ve looked at other options.

You're doing better than me. I'd like to order/reserve/place a deposit on a certain model and all I get is "ask us again closer to the end of the year".

On edit: Fed Ex forgot my bike, it’ll be here tomorrow now (maybe)

People seem to be buying bikes like mad. Kinda like the fake gas shortage back in the early 70s. A lot of the new buyers will ride a few times, and then hang them up in the garage for a few years and then sell them off in a garage sale for pennies on the dollar.

I doubt it rydabent. Needing some rim strips, I visited a shop that I used to work at and visited with the owner. He said everything he's projected to receive through February is already pre-sold. Shimano replacement and repair parts are also pretty much unobtainable. He blamed it on all the asian factories being shut down for 3 months. That makes a lot more sense to me than people who don't ride buying up everything.

unless it was an online buy, I wouldn't wait more than a day for an in-store higher dollar buy. If the store doesnt have it in stock & is trying to hold my large lump sum of cash longer than a day without producing my purchased item, I'll buy it from someone who can make it happen.

I think next spring there may be a lot of lightly used bikes on the market.
Another hot commodity are camper vans. This works out great for my wife and I as we planned to get one in the next few years, and now I am guessing there will be quite a few on the market in about 3 years.

We were this close to buying one in Feb, before it hit the fan. About 30% off msrp. We were really disappointed in the way it drove (Travato) and decided to look at something on the Transit chassis. Didn't get it done. Now they are gone....

Wasn't alive then, but can't say I've heard of thebdake shortage. Was that before or after the real shortage. All those people waiting in line for rationed amounts of gas really did happen so I know you aren't misrepresenting that...
