Hey, Frank!!! Stopped by your place yesterday, but didn’t see you out. Maybe next time, huh? 😎

Absolutely real, rode through wine country yesterday & will today some more. Almost into Ukiah now, and I’m ready for coffee. 😁

Woohoo, made it into Ukiah, and found a Walmart!!! I finally got a pump, scabs & tubes, that are normally “required” for a road trip. 😉

I also finally scored some decent (?) socks, lol. These ones are something like 48% wool, which is a lot better than some of these crappy blends they make anymore. 🙄 I like my wool, in the mountains. It sure felt chilly here last night. ✌️

Found this along the roadside. Made me stop and think. I live in a (very) small village, and there's truth in this. I think I would like to read more of Cesare Pavese's work.

I made it to Willits, which is only about 20-25 miles from the ocean now. ✌️ And Fort Bragg, for youse military types. 😉

I passed a long stretch of roadwork being done, right in the steepest part of the climb. The workers must have needed a break, & asked me how far I came. When I told them San Diego, & Arizona before that, they were fairly impressed, & actually offered me water. 😁😉

And I’m not sure yet, but I think I met the Three Billy Goats Gruff. 🤔😁

I found this guy on one of my local rides the other day. I tried to get him to talk but he wouldn't come out of his shell.

Out of his shell.

Ugh...!

Hey, where’s “local” to you? That looks a heck of a lot like New Hampshire, where I once found a huge turtle, in the middle of the road like that. I tried picking him up to move him across the road, but he weighed a ton, lol. 🙄😁

BTW, it’s more like 35 miles to Fort Bragg. I’m gonna have to back up a couple miles, for water, I think. 🤔 At least there’s another Safeway there, for grub, so one on each end of this section. 👍

I'm in the northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, near where I-81 and I-66 change inters. This photo was taken along one of the gravel roads at the large county park.

I used to live near Fort Bragg...North Carolina. You're a LONG way from that one. Pack lots of water!

Here's another "local" picture -- from a trail system in Front Royal, VA. My bike and the county's bike, both in one selfie.

And then later that evening, down by the river (I'm just missing "a van" in this picture). Sorry for the NDS pic. I was caught in the "sunset over the river" moment.

It was an early fort but now days is better known for its dump that created Glass Beach.

I don’t really know the local history, yet, but couldn’t help noticing Glass Beach on the map. 🤔

I’m still a little South of that, having an Americano, that I bought at an organic coffee shop, called Zappa’s. 😎 The barista was a gorgeous blonde, who kept showing me her mammaries, lol. 😁😉

But yeah, that’s a long 35 miles, on route 20. The hills feel like mountains! 🙄😁😉

Right on, those guys are tough to get a pic of. 👍

I’ve seen a lot of ravens and bluejays lately, so not sure which this feather’s from. 🤔 I found this one in the redwood mulch on the side of the road, and right after that, I found a Galaxy Note 8 smartphone, with pretty awesome specs. I have no idea yet, if it works, or if it’s locked (most likely), but one corner took a ding from falling on the road, so it’s iffy anyways. 🤔

Little more than a feather on the bars. This Turkey vulture decided to leave his roadkill at a bad time. Not me, but the rider didn't fair well either...
