They have not done it as a school sanctioned event since the year it collapsed in 1999 and killed some kids.
As for COVID, the school has been very proactive with random mandatory testing, limited in person class requirements, and other safety protocols. Other than labs, my son only has one in person class, and it is small. They have a ceremony every year to honor students, faculty, and alumni who have died. Last spring they took it virtual which was a bummer since my FIL was one honored that year. We were really looking forward to that. We have been comfortable with everything they have done to keep the students safe.

I guess our local TV stations aren't gonna carry Nevada Wolfpack vs Rainbow Warriors.

Went chasing waterfalls today. This was the biggest of the four on my loop. Nice hike sheltered from most of the sun for most of the day.

Depends. Mostly, if we ship on dry ice we store at -80. Some things that we keep at -20 can't be shipped on dry ice. Generally enzymes and such, where the structure won't survive freezing solid, so they're in glycerol solutions that don't freeze solid at -20. They're usually shipped overnight with ice packs. Not sure exactly how labile Moderna's vaccine is, like for example just how stable is it kept below freezing but >-20.

Gotta go out and spin around the hood, at least, this morning. Did 62 miles with 4700 feet yesterday with 3 others. The grumpy always-in-a-hurry guy was there and he seemed upset to see me when he arrived at the start. I asked my friend if he was pissed because I was there and he said "probably, but eff him". I think he was worried I was going to slow him down but after a few climbs he softened his stance and even said a few words to me.
Then we stopped to eat and he actually got some food and sat at the (outside) table with us instead of pacing nervously while everyone else relaxed. Maybe he actually had a good time.

Had a fun recovery-ish ride. It was cold at the start and only about half of the usual suspects showed up. It was good.
On my way home I saw my Ironman friend out on a run. As I passed by I noticed his running shoes were mismatched, one white and one black. I wanted to call him “Lokai!” but did not think fast enough, plus I am pretty sure he would miss the Star Trek reference.
