Take grease, for instance. There is already a sufficiently huge variety of grease to choose from that is readily available at lots of retail stores all over and will easily keep a bicycle operating as intended. But no. Bicycles somehow need "special" grease that comes in a "special" smaller container, and of course costs way more.
Its not just bikes. Pretty much any niche thing that needs a lube has special lubes. RC cars grease is crazy expensive.

No problem. This is my issue that others don't necessarily have a problem with. But now that you mention Paul Brodie, I will have to backtrack and say that this curved fork thing was only intended for road bikes. I am not familiar with DeKerf, I I'll look it up. I cannot change my high opinion of Mr. Brodie.

You do? I'm just happy it's tight with no gaps when I'm done. You're on another plane of OCD if your wraps have the same number and end in the same place relative to the stem.

Maybe I'm sitting on a valuable commodity? Oh no! Picture taken inside, tall stem and valves stems not aligned!

Your bike looks like an econo sport-tourer, and it likely shares "cruiser" frame geometry with the Schwinn Varsity, but at this point it clearly deserves a set of lever hoods.

I especially appreciate how they weren't too OCD to cross the spokes at the valves.

And I'm wondering how a bike stayed so well-preserved in Canada?

Love the comments everybody!

No me gusta la bay! Got a beautiful pair of Bluemmels recently from a BF member but these white mudguards need to do endurance and commuting duty. Don’t want to have to fake the colour...

Why it bugs me, why I am sending emails to SKS and Planet Bike to bring back their special colours again!

Those are just what I am looking for... went to order and got an access denied message. Might be something wrong with their site? Keeps on saying client 135 is disabled?

Still looking.

What 'irks' me when I see it...

Mis-matched wheels and/or tires Tires can be different size (ie 28mm rear/25mm front), but NOT different colors!

ONE valve stem cap. One cap on, one missing... PICK ONE!

Frayed cable ends - either solder it, or use a crimp-on end cap -- but make sure the end cap is in the 'right' color for the bike! Sheesh...

Riders who wear all-black at night...double irk points if no lights either!

This ubiquitous CCM Turismo was actually the lowest priced CCM 10 speed in 1972. The bike was very well used and was the pride and joy of its owner (a late friend of mine). It was purchased in a small shop in a small town where he was a teacher and was ridden on mostly rural roads and definitely not left out in the weather. Regular lubricating cleaning and tire changes were done as if it was a prized collector car. It had been hanging in a dry equipment shed for six years unused when his son gifted it to me. Oh, and it was equipped with a kickstand so the bars levers and frame paint were in good condition. I was very tempted to make changes to the bike like adding brake hoods but went for as close to a true restoration as I could. I intend to keep it and use it occasionally . I was 19years old in it's build year and not the least interested in bikes, go figure!

Ah, bummer. Maybe they aren't keeping their site updated. They have a toll free number at the top of the page. You could try giving them a call.

But how else are you going to know if they sent you unequal lengths?

Yep. The one variable I can't control is the "stretch of the tape.
It also bugs me in the bends a bit, but I abide.

Headset spacers should be 2-3mm tall. 5mm might be acceptable in a pinch. When I see it approaching 10mm, I'm thinking something went way wrong.

Road cassettes that start at 11 teeth.

Road cassettes that jump 2 or more at 19 or fewer cogs. If I can make it to at least 17 one at a time I'm probably ok, as long as I've had a cup of coffee.
