Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Guads are a "use it or lose it" thing. When I look at my legs now all I see is sun damage and crepe skin.

Today I did my mtb loop and I saw 2 women a few miles up and they were trying to figure out where to go. They didn't speak much English and I don't speak much Spanish but I told them the route as best as I could. I was worried they didn't know what they were in for. I went on and climbed to the summit and doubled back to find them going the right way and a lot further along than I expected.

I went to the next (4 way) turnoff to show them. Turns out they are very experienced hikers and are training for Mount Whitney. I really enjoyed chatting with them and when I left one of them said I had beautiful legs. I was so startled I didn't know what to say. It was a good day.

Is potential speed a thing in bike sales now?

I have, too. Nice looking bike except for the clownish front ring..

90x11= 229 gear inches x 90 rpm = 69mph. No problem if you ride in a vacuum.

Tried my first 'Tabata' intervals tonight. I knew not to use Erg Mode, but it was really frustrating trying to nail the wattage goals because Zwift responds so slowly - I'd be putting in a huge effort, but the power would lag by quite a bit, and then I'd overshoot, and then I'd back off and undershoot, then overshoot. Lather, rinse, repeat after 10 seconds of trying not to go over or under the "easy" wattage. I ended up completing one set, but getting only half a star because I had so much trouble trying to hit the wattage goals.

Halfway through the second set I gave up.
