I had all sorts of things in my ass in my 30's. Turns out there's a reason all those prostate drugs use video of old men riding bikes.

Just coming off one of my longest shifts ever. 21.5 hours, doing a system cutover. Get a few hours sleep and back at it.
I have no idea how they require doctors under even more stress to do this (and more) regularly and not make mistakes. I stared at the wrong spreadsheet for 30 seconds before I realized it was not even remotely similar to what I was looking for.

I don't know how to get people to change behavior like this. It's not a huge deal, but I find it really disrespectful that my wife will "clap" her hands our kids when she has certain things to say to them. I don't know, they were doing something wrong. Whatever. But I just find it disrespectful for some reason. And she's also done it at me before. I pretty much left the house when that happened.
Is that something you'd consider disrespectful? Audibly clapping your hands at somebody while you're sing songy chanting something at them?
It's a rare occurrence, but whew.

To each their own. Yeah I wouldn't respond well to it but my wife shuts down whenever I raise my voice. I was raised in a house where if you wanted to be heard you yelled louder than the others so my volume is directly related to how intensely I feel about something. To her she shuts down immediately when I do that and that's the end of the conversation. I get it. It's frustrating for me because that's just heavily programmed into my ways of communicating.
Not saying that is programmed into your wife to communicate that way but I would say your response seems similar to my wife's response to me.
Your thoughts and feelings about it are valid. Discuss it with her.

I can see how that would be annoying. Have you discussed it with her? And if you discussed it, did you explain how it makes you feel when she does that?
I recently found myself snapping at my wife - finger snapping. Mostly it was because I was on a work call with the door shut and she was knocking to see if I was on a call, so I snapped my fingers a few times to try to let her know I was on a call. After I did it, I apologized to her, saying I wasn't trying to be rude, but I needed to let her know I was on a call and couldn't answer her at the door. She said she didn't think I was being rude, and she figured out pretty quickly why I was snapping.

So, I wanted to look into this first to have some background on explaining why I (and the kids) might not appreciate it. As the other person might very well not perceive the "why" we'd not like it.
Apparently, it can appear as physically confrontational as a warning that altercation could ensue. Almost like clapping at a child you're angry with as a warning you're about to spank them.
Most psyche stuff I came across said that's why people don't like it and that the person doing it likely doesn't understand that as the reason.
So just have to have a good way of saying "it's subconscious that we feel this way, but we feel this way due to this".

Yeah, bts, I think I'd find that a bit annoying and condescending. It seems like something people might do when scolding a dog. Talk to your wife about it and she will probably understand.

FWIW, my doc gives me the exam in question annually.
I've had a couple colonoscopies and in one had some pre-cancerous cysts removed (they run in the family). Don't put it off.

Looking into whether my insurance will cover it since I'm only 41. Doctor referred me so it's valid (to me), but my university has been skimping on benefits to make up for budget shortfalls as students aren't coming as much (and state funding is down) due to pandemic.

Also that entire being a bit mad at yourself for killing/hurting someone else is a pretty good motivator most of the time. But the additional paperwork is probably the best motivator of all!

Just friended Joe Gardner on Facebook through an industry group. For those that remember - he was the guy that created this place.

So I took a cycling quiz earlier (for life insurance discounts, FWIW) and I'm curious how many of you guys know these two:
What's a technique for climbing very steep hills? Answer was "paper-boy" which I've never, ever heard of, but searching now I see is what people apparently call the side to side sway of the bars.
The other is what's the purpose of a sloping top tube? I don't remember the answer. What I thought (make the geometry more compact so people fit on more bikes) wasn't the answer.

That's about all I knew as well. The answer was something about back pain, or wrist pain, or braking or something, I don't remember and can't see anymore as far as I can tell. It was written by Chris Carmichael, but putting "chris carmichael sloping top tube" into Google doesn't seem to help, so he apparently hasn't published anything about it.

The only other thing I could possibly come up with was some sort of compliance thing, but that wasn't an option. I dunno. I got enough right to get what I needed, guess I'm not the only one who doesn't understand that one.

to paper boy up a hill isn't to sway your bars from side to side, it is to weave back and forth across the road in an 'S' to reduce the angle of the slope you are riding up at any given time.
