Let’s talk tires some more.
My Marin has WTB Horizon 650b tires. I’m mainly on paved country roads which get chip sealed with sections of gravel. The WTB tires are really slow on the pavement. Since I’m 90% pavement should I go with a narrower tire? Also what would be a faster 650b for roads. Thanks

I had WTB Horizon 650x47 on my Breezer and switched to Herse Switchback Hill standard casing 48s for my mostly hardpack and urban paved, and I love the feel. They certainly seem to roll better and faster than Horizons, but my fitness has improved, too, so I’m not sure what the truth is. Would you be faster and just as comfy on Herse Loup Loup Pass 38s? Probably.

Reducing some rotating weight might help. Panaracer Gravel King 650b X 42 (the ones with mostly slick tread) weigh 360 grams compared to your WTBs at 515g. It's a great tread for pavement, and will save you 310 grams for the pair. You're running tubeless, yes?

The WTBs are among the slower rolling options. The Rene Herse mentioned above are the other end of the spectrum (fast!)

No report yet, but I just picked up a few tires I plan to ride mostly on the pavement
Maxxis Receptor EXO/TR 700c Gravel Tire 700 x 40mm from Biketires direct had them in stock with a 20% off coupon.
Not a lot of reviews. Plan to go tubeless on this set, just waiting for my new wheels. Should roll nice, not sure about puncture protection.
Panaracer Gravel King slick and semi-slick on sale. Going run tubes on these and they are ready to go for tonight's ride.
From research I also like
Teravail RAMPART
Some touring tires look like they roll good, not too heavy, and good puncture protection.
Schwalbe Marathon Almotion and marathon-supreme
Maybe someone who actually rides these tires can give you more help. sorry.
I also have a few tires I bought before the pandemic that I still need to try out.
I'll give an update next year.

I'm running those exact Panaracer GK 650bx42 tires tubeless on my Salsa Journeyman. Outstanding tire for 90% pavement.

+1 for Gravelking Slicks. I run the 48mm version which on my 30mm rims measure to 52mm. They're 500g average but for more road riding I see the 42mm version to be a top option. That said the rolling resistance in the Gravelking slicks will be much lower than the Horizons no matter what size you choose.

I dunno. Size matters sometimes. The GK-SK seems to be a fast tire in 700x35, but the 650x48 are dog slow (and loud) on pavement.
