I did it, today is my retirement date and Friday was my last day. Got in a 40 mile ride this morning so it is time to start piling the miles on. Greenbriar River trail next week, going to a frame building class in July to build a frame.

I retired 4/1. Been 4-5 days a week on the bike mostly. I do not find 6-7 is doable, I need a rest day or two in a week, but with warmer weather, I head out on the kayak. Loving retirement, really great feeling to know I no longer need to stress out about work issues.

I've been retired for 4.5 years. No more cycling during rush hour. Traffic is always good. The gym in the middle of the day means no more waiting for equipment. Exploring new bike lanes that I previously had no time for. House repairs that I had neglected for 30 years.

Congrats. I retired 6.5 years ago and never looked back. Haven't thought about former work for 5 minutes since.
You will find one additional (regular) use for your cell phone..it tells you what day it is, for sure. Nice to have a reference point occasionally.

Good for you and I hope you really make the best of it, whatever that is for you. I think I may have joined the ranks also. I have been driving a school bus for close to 10 school years, but not since the beginning of last December. I had a lot of time off before that due to covid. I have liked most of time I have had off, really, other than almost 4 months of health issues this year. My younger sister is going to move in with me sometime in the next couple of months, so someone to split some of monthly costs.

you’re killing me - I have retirement in my sights, but I’ll have to wait another ~3 years until the last of the spawn are out of college. Some time after that, I want to be known as “the skinny old guy who’s never off his bike” - preferably muttered in French or Italian. 👍

I've been retired for fourteen years. Haven't done a stitch of remunerative work since I retired. Plenty of time to do what I choose or to do nothing. A great stage of life.
