Did a 20.02 mile group ride with me, myself and I this morning starting at 1:20AM. Super cohesive group.

Started a new performance builder app today called Pillar per another poster’s recommendation. I took my Strava, Zwift and Garmin data for the last month, analyzed it and said today is a rest day. Who was I to argue with the almighty AI? In fact it said, my performance was negative since I have been pushing it. Can only go up from here.

AI might be pseudo-smart but it wasn’t smart enough to know that I cannot tolerate a 2 hour stretch at a time day after day on a trainer. My bum would never recover. An hour to 1.5 is my limit. We’ll see what the HELP facility provides since I cannot change it myself. Stay tuned. And another rest day. Maybe I will make it from negative numbers to a big zero on the fitness scale today.

Nice crisp 35 degrees and 23 miles out in the woods, waiting for some snow.

Getting into group riding, so have stripped all the superfluous stuff off my bike (rack, fenders, trunk bag, headlights, kickstand) for a savings of nearly 4kg (15kg down to just over 11kg) so I can go faster. Bike definitely felt quicker today.

Proved how pathetic I really am by doing a ramp test. Only lasted about 23 minutes. FTP at least didn’t slip but remained at 227. Rather discouraging to only get through half the test and have the heart rate red-lining ( 188 ) while gasping for breath. But am still able to do it. Will start a structured training program this winter (for the very first time) and will see if I can improve it.

kicked off the ride with calm winds @ 35F, then the temps took a dive @ 17F. So, all I could chatter was 45 miles. was not an accurate forecast.

So first ride on my Emonda since I replaced my 11 speed Shimano Ultegra with SRAM eTap AXS. Weather was sketchy, heavy clouds, but not nearly as humid as it was Friday. I did not see rain on the radar, so I decided to chance it as the temps, while not low; all the same, I just assume not get rained on. What started out to be a nice ride with the new drive train, about mile 40 miles as I turned into a nasty headwind, my knee started to really bother me. I could not understand why, this bike has been setup since 2015 and I have not touched it, and it has been gloriously comfortable. Then it dawned on me, I got shorter crank arms on the SRAM than I had with the Shimano and I did not adjust my seat post to account for it. So I started reducing the miles back to the house although I did have to crawl over a bridge that is usually a non issue, but I hobbled back into the garage 58.1 miles. Knee is really painful tonight, so I'm having some additional ice cream to go with my Tylenol. Based on how things go this week, this might end up my birthday age ride as I turn 58 on Thursday. Weather is suppose to suck all week except for a couple of day, so will probably rest it for a day and hit the trainer to see how things are.

Later in life, when I was commuting into the office, my hours were typically 2 to generally 2...it was a suck job, but you do what you have to do. My commutes in was at 2 am took about 25 mins.

I went out this morning (Monday) and rode 40 kilometers at Nong Bon park in eastern Bangkok. A warm morning at 27C (80F) with 90% humidity.

The ride started at a cool 39* F but by the end, warmed up to a balmy 40*. Considering the multi-layers, I had to unzip to keep from overheating.
