Useless forum ignore feature
When you add someone to your ignore list on this forum all it does is deletes the text of their posts, it puts in it's place a notification that they did post and asks if you want to take them off your ignore list. On top of that if someone not on your ignore list quotes the person on your ignore list then the ignored persons post is shown anyway. So the ignore feature on the forum actually does absolutely nothing at all worthwhile. Having a forum feature that works in such a ridiculous silly way contrary to how it is names makes one wonder what is going on the the heads of those who designed the feature in the first place.

I can imagine it is pointless that quoted posts show up anyway. But I've never used the ignore feature on forums or social media. I just scroll on by without a problem.

I think it's just a feature to make you think you are doing something to help you blow off steam from what ever that person did to enrage you at that moment or you are going ape**** over what seems to you, their gross ignorance.
I can't imagine how it should act any differently than it does. Other than maybe they could search for that member name in the quotes of others. I can't fathom why some would even want this feature though.
Since you thought it important enough to post a short rant, then what do you recommend it do?

.
...once you get enough people on ignore, some of the threads get a lot shorter, and they are easier to scroll through.

That’s not all it does. You won’t get quote notifications from someone on your ignore list.
As noted above, you can simply scroll past anything you don’t want to read. It’s not hard. Don’t let your device rule you.
BTW…It you are on something like a PC, you can selectively view a post without taking the member off your ignore list. Doesn’t work that way with my iPhone though.
