Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No clue. What is the HR zone data based on? That can vary hugely from athlete to athlete.

As long as the power zones are empirical (based on your performance), just go off that and the HR will follow suit. Eventually you'll get a feel for your HR when you are riding off power. Not sure if you can re-set the HR zones or not on your device.

Note that both slow responding HR and high HR are signs you need to rest.

Based off of 3 years of riding. Intervals FTP is slightly higher than what garmin has but not by much. This isn’t a rest issue I just feel my data doesn’t align. I mean if you look at my intervals I have done nothing but Z2 rides for months but people keep telling me to do more zone 2. That’s fine except that I am back tracking so I am trying to figure out why. I am wondering if my power zones are off just a twitch but I have no idea how to adjust that on garmin.

listening to a lot of Satie lately, great to play while working/studying. Most of them are easy to play as well; I can play two Gnossiennes and one Gymnopedie. I'm really into Gnossienne 5 rn which I have not learned yet:

Just ignore the garmin zones, hard for me to advise there since my device is simple (520). I just know what my power targets are in my head (based on FTP testing) and try to stay around that during long rides or intervals

also bampilot06 we could use some more traffic in the 33 racing subforum.... I welcome you to bring your discussion to a new thread or our Training Status thread. It's been a bit of a ghost town lately and we could use the conversation! others can chime in as well as have some knowledgeable users that check in from time to time

The Modestemente from Pieces Froides is also a total banger. Sounds easy to play too. I should grab the sheet music.

Harsh but fair. I actually haven't ridden my road bike in about 3 years. I could have chosen a e-road bike but since over 90% of my riding is commuting and or errands I chose the bike equivalent of a truck/van. practical, not particularly fast and not sexy.

Did the teardown for the Roubaix upgrade to 11s Di2. I finished everything I wanted except to install the new 11s cassette.

Pic

Then I hit a snag. Last cassette cog does not fit on freehub body.

The wheels are the stock DT Swiss boat anchors that came with the bike. When I took off the 10s cassette, there WAS a thin (sub-mm) washer so I was told that means the body will accept 11s, but clearly this one won’t.

Before I post in mechanics forum, wtf is going on?

Went to trek store this afternoon with the wife. She bought this stuff for me. She didn’t say no to the madone either.

My old madone is 10 speed. I took the stock wheels off and it too had a spacer and it too won’t accept 11 speed cassette.

edit: These were the wheels I offered you. I tried to put a 11 speed cassette on it and it didn’t work.

Ugh. I will await further suggestions from the brain trust. Looks like DT Swiss makes lots of 11s freehub bodies, but they cost more than this old wheel is worth, possibly.

Yup that is an option, and I believe they are supposed to be 11s but now I am getting suspicious.

My WAG is that there are 11-sp-ready and non-11-sp-ready Ksyriums out there.

Helmet looks too hot for Tejas summer riding.

I can't even wear my WaveCell helmet in the summer.

most aero road helmets are pretty ugly tbh. the Specialized one "Evade" ain't half bad, but like everything else Specialized its way too pricey
