Sherpa 30 (2008)
This one has a 56 cm seat tube, was given in exchange for work on another bike, plus they thought this one was too heavy and old. He owned since new, claims it was made in Montreal.
Mavic A319s, Ritchey Stem, Brooks B17 saddle. Frame is Reynolds 853.

The bike is from about 2008. the seat is an upgrade of about $100. it is probably from about 2007.
from a Pink bike wanted ad
"Others have sold on Pinkbike for between $4-450 (CDN) as complete bikes in excellent condition (judging by the pictures) so this seems a reasonable place to start. The MEC National seems like a comparable bike and I'd entertain one of those in the same size too.

The Rocky Mountain Sherpa 30, Wow! Those are great.
I know that well, I have one. I got it as a bare frame and thought it was a 26er at the time. I ended up building as a flat bar. Very comfortable, responsive, some flex very quick on correcting. I originally had it set with 32mm tires, I switched to 42mm. The bike can handle Fat Franks if you want.
I put a Brooks saddle on mine as well. I put thousands of miles, did a lot of gravel. I have set it up for road a number of years, but haven't it back on the pavement since it was flat bar. More than likely I'll switch it back to hybrid.
The price of $400 seams low when one compares to, let's say, the Surly Long Haul Trucker. Probably a better bike than the Surly.
This is where I left it in the rebuild. I never set the cockpit and the saddle is way high in the picture.

"Too heavy and old", sounds like me. But seriously that is a wonderful bike and seems in great condition. I also think the quoted prices are on the low end for what it is. There's a lot you can do with that bike.

Banned.
Yeah, those bikes don't sell for a lot of money on the used market. People can ask whatever they want and that usually means the ad stays up for years but that $4-500 range seems to be the correct real world sales price. These bikes only get older every year too. Here is another one off pinkbike. Probably sold for $450. https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/2944799/

Hey I also have one like that!
I'm looking to change the tires on it because I'm planning a trip and was wondering if the tire clearance can allow gravel type tire.
Was looking at some Michelin Power gravel 700cx40 or Maxxis Ramber 700x40 and even on the 42-45 range.
Really hard to be sure it will fit before ordering it!
Thanks!

I bought these for mine (I'm the OP of the thread, but had narrow tires on it then). Plenty room for more, actually. Trying to upload some pictures of it. Its a great bike, will never part with it. Kind of a graveler now.
Mine was gifted to me for doing a series of bike services for an elderly neighbor, and the Sherpa was her husband's bike, but he stopped riding about 15 years ago (he a TWA pilot and her senior by about 15 years).
I didn't know he had this bike at all until she stopped by the house and asked if I wanted it, otherwise going to the animal shelter as a donation. It took me a while to learn about it, but I was really lucky that day.
My other bike is a 2011 Specialized StumpJumper FSR, which is lighter by 5-10 lbs, but the pedal energy you exert on the Sherpa sends you farther down the road.

Reynolds 853 too, nice bike. Would be easy to shed 5-10 lbs of that bike in about 10 minutes.
