FYI, since it is raining. "Trips for Kids" on 4th street in SanRafael, is having HALF off sale today at 10:00. I definitely saw a few things yesterday, that the Sacramento Vintage Camelian Wheelmen would be interested in.
If you leave now, you can be there by ten.

For you folks that are not on Facebook:
Planning a vintage bike ride to the top of Mount Hamilton in San Jose, CA. The ride will be on Saturday, the 27th of April and will start at 10am at the corner of Alum Rock Ave. and Mt. Hamilton Rd. There's parking right on the corner. It's roughly a 36 mile ride up and back, with the worst grades around 6% with just under 5000 ft of climbing. There's a park halfway through the ride for water and bathrooms (Grant Park) and vending machines at the top in the Observatory for drinks and snacks (also a water fountain for refilling bottles). About halfway through the ride, it levels out and there's some downhill into a valley (Grant Park) so you get a climbing break. Ride at your own pace and rain cancels, but hopefully the rain will be long gone by then!
Here's the ride with GPS:

Ride this Saturday!
With the weather getting nicer, we are back to our 9 a.m. start. We are using the traditional upriver route. 25 miles with about 1100 feet of accumulated climbing on bike trail grades. Conversational pace. We usually average about a 15 mph moving speed and we have several regroups. I depart at 8 a.m. from the Guy West Bridge and bike to the ride start if you want to join me for extra miles.
Ride start/end location: Starbucks parking lot in Gold River-2095 Golden Centre Ln, Gold River, CA 95670
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/40441105
Also, Joe and Rich are putting together a Mt. Hamilton adventure on April 27th. The info is in one of the recents posts on this thread.

3rd Saturday in one Week! MIBM
Third Saturday is in one week and we are taking on a new route! Heading up into Folsom and Granite Bay. About 41 miles with 1900 feet of accumulated climbing on gentle rollers and a few short hills. Since this is longer than our usual 27 mile route, we will stop at the flower Farm Cafe at a little over the half way mark for an extended coffee break.
Start location is the parking lot adjacent to the Starbucks in Gold River-2095 Golden Centre Ln, Gold River, CA 95670
Route is here- https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46554583

May 18th Ride Report
Another great ride! We tested out a new route today to try to mix things up. Thanks to the stalwarts and our two out of town guests who joined me on our adventure up to Loomis and Granite Bay. Great company and beautiful bikes. Early Trek, Davidson, Legnano, Peugeot, Serotta, Scapin, my Fuji and Todd’s KOF Toei made for some beautiful eye candy. The below shots are the screen capture of the route and pictures at the Flower Farm Cafe which is a bike friendly business that we used as our mid ride stop.
Camellia City VLCC will be hosting two rides over the weekend of the Classic Rendezvous Western Rally in October 2024. This ride is a very good candidate to be one of the two rides we will host.

Great ride, Albert! Thanks for planning the route! I didn't think of it at the time, but we should've stopped and taken a group photo while we were in "Italy".

We are a patient bunch
We do a lot of re-groups. The faster people just use the re-group time to ogle the bikes more. Always fun to se what people bring. Will probably post a chill down trail ride for June so that we get more people out.

Rides on June 8th and June 15th!
There is a pop up ride this Saturday, June 8th at 9 a.m. While this is not the 3rd Saturday Ride, it is following a similar route to the one that we normally use. The host is Jay Morris
June 8th Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46964659
Start location: 2095 Golden Centre Ln, Gold River, CA 95670 (Parking lot in front of the Starbucks)
Third Saturday ride on June 15 at 8 a.m. NOTE DIFFERENT START LOCATION AND EARLIER START TIME! To encourage participation in BOTH rides, I have drawn up a new route for our 3rd Saturday ride so that we can explore the recently opened Del Rio Trail. To keep it under 40 miles, I had to move the start further down the trail to the Bella Bru at the corner of Fair Oaks and Arden. Plenty of free parking and a nice cafe for the start/finish of the ride. About half the ride will be on trails, half on city streets, although most of the roads we are using have good shoulders or are designated bike routes. I just want to disclose that there will be surface streets and urban cycling.
June 15th Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46993720
Distance-39.9 miles
Climbing-350 feet

Heads Up for Saturday Ride-Route information
IMPORTANT HEADS UP!
The Great American Triathlon is taking place on the lower part of the trail from the Guy West Bridge all the way up through the walking bridge at Sunrise.
We will make a small adjustment to our route by using Gold River up to Hazel and getting on the trail there. The route will follow the trail, but then we will take surface roads in Folsom and Granite Bay on our way to Coffee Republic for a coffee stop at mile 19.
Route distance is 28 miles. Climbing is about 1000 feet total on gentle grades. Route link to Ride with GPS is here:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47581936
The triathlon will also impact those of us who cycle to the ride start using the American River Multi-Use Trail.
Those riding from Downtown or East Sacramento will have to use surface roads if cycling or use alternative transportation like driving to the ride start or taking light rail to Sunrise.
The mid ride coffee stop is to allow for the completion of the triathlon so that people who rode to the ride start can use the trail to get home.
