Got a little bit of riding in today...83 miles and 9600' of gain.
The riding hasn't been easy this week, so I was fatigued before I even started...I felt great once I warmed up and probably hit the first difficult climb a little bit hard. Then by mile 30, I was feeling twinges of bonking...luckily I was able to keep my fueling ahead of the bonk and never did fully crap out. Once I got to the top of the big climb of the day(8 miles/2500') I had a couple of options. I really wanted to hang a left and bomb 15 miles downhill on the state highway. However, I stuck to my originally intended route which was another 40 miles and 2500' of climbing. I managed to rally for the last couple of climbs and felt really good towards the end.
This ride also wrapped up a big month of riding for me...in May, I had 63 hours rolling time, 896 miles, and 98,500' climbed.

Got in 35 miles and 1.2 K ft of fakery. Looks to be a nice day for an outside ride tomorrow, planning for 60 to 75 with the winds coming from the east, so the temps should be comfortable. Plan to ride down A1A at the beach and get in some gravel as well.

Beautiful day ;;before the atmospheric river arrives. Did almost 64 miles with 3500’ of climbing. One punchy 10th of a mile climb at 14% which I chose to tackle rather than detour around. I find it to be a good fitness test. Took it easy for most of the ride but also snagged a couple of PRs for fun. The best part is I don’t feel trashed.
Decided to bag the century ride tomorrow with rain in the forecast. Homey don’t play dat. Did a double century in the rain a few years back, and never again.

42 miles on the MUP Thursday evening, Z2/easy pace.
33 miles this AM with a 30 mile TT.
Set PB’s for 30/40k distances and had more in the tank at the end. Finished strong.

62 today with the front 35 into a 25 mph mostly cross headwind which sucked. I was doing 280 watts to maintain 17 to 18 going south on a pancake flat route. Once I turned to come back, I was doing 125 to 135 watts and doing 21 to 23, toward the end it shifted to a full on cross wind with about 10 miles to go. I was glad when I pulled into the parking lot as I was beat from the front half. The gravel section was really loose today, we have not had any rain in the last 7 or 8 days, so that made for some interesting cornering. The guy I was supposed to ride with bailed due to a sick kid, I just think he caught news on the wind speed and did not want to deal with it. My bike is just covered in dust from the gravel section.
Edit: Something I forgot to mention is I am so glad I did not have any deep section wheels today.. That would have just made it worse, as I was already being blown around with 37 deep wheels.

I repeated the same 30 mile route on the Orbea Terra this morning with much stronger winds and shaved about a minute....

Rode the Armed Forces Cycling Classic Challenge Ride yesterday; got 9 laps in the three hours, for a total of 54 miles.
Definitely farther and faster than my usual routes; but it was a fun, fast course with a lot of really good energy.

Just under 23 miles, working my way back into cycling shape. Let's see how the knee holds up when I get up to 50 miles is the question.

A much needed rest day yesterday...today was a fake 15 miles and 1600' at an easy pace...so still a recovery day. Hopefully all the metrics look good enough to get back into intensity work in the next couple days.

I did an easy 20km today. I spent last week in America visiting family, the trip took a couple extra days due to weather-related flight cancelations and delays. While waiting at LAX for my flight to Haneda, I made the mistake of having dinner at PF Chang’s. During the 11 hour flight to Haneda, I had to use the toilet around 11 times, firing out of both barrels. Explosive diarrhea and projectile vomiting are never enjoyable individually, and when combined together while on an airplane, you can say I didn’t have the most pleasant flight. For those who might care, Panda Express has better food than PF Chang’s, and cost about one-third as much. Chang’s rooked me for $171, adding a 20% service charge which wasn’t mentioned until I asked for the check, and then giving me a receipt which had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to leave an additional tip.
I had looked forward to getting in a longer ride, but didn’t have the energy for it. But after a bottle of Pepto Bismal toilets, I’m starting to get “regular” again. I’ll try to do 50km tomorrow if the weather allows.

Lake Tahoe century ride yesterday on my Serotta Legend. It was my 'graduation' ride after coming back at age 73 from a smashed pelvis last fall (cargo van meets bike), and getting back on the bike in February.
Did the same ride last year on my CSI, and was worried about being able to come back from injury. This year, although ten pounds heavier, I managed to best last year's pace by...wait for it...one second per mile. Another plus was that I met a woman who was riding a Serotta Concours, first one other than mine I've seen there (I'm a fan boy. Bike. Not her)

Today was a nice afternoon ride, with some ugly hills included for fun obviously. On the steepest hill the bicycle wouldn't shift into the small ring so it was like an infernal leg press.

I wound up with 34 miles yesterday on a new route that the bike club had done Saturday before the rain came:
https://www.strava.com/activities/11558157886
No riding Saturday; was driving to see my dad in the nursing home and to help my father in law get a hospital bed in his house. By the time that was all done, I only had energy for a 1.8 mile walk around the neighborhood with my wife.
Tonight is the faster club ride I usually go on, but it looks like it'll be rained out. I'm OK with that, as my legs are a little shot still after yesterday's ride. I commuted in on the eBike and when I go home for lunch, I'll just leave it there and take the car back.

I got food poisoning in Mexico in March and spent a full night in a proper bathroom and the next day in bed trying to get down fluids. But on a plane - my deepest sympathy. And ya, LA airport food sucks.

I've had that before, going from both ends, rushing to the toilet and not knowing which end wanted to go first! Luckily, I was at home in Bangkok, and I wasn't on a plane.

A very fake 23 miles and 1200'...I had my trainer on ERG mode and was kinda figuring out what my zone 2 wattage is right now. Started at 250 and kept bumping it up, until I eventually hit 275 watts, without getting much cardiac drift.
