Found a somewhat local option for the 105 crankset with free shipping: https://www.bikeworldiowa.com/produc...t-360635-1.htm
I'm hesitant to go the ebay route as I don't want a counterfeit part. t2p which seller did you use?
This one looks promising but... https://www.ebay.com/itm/35357768351...3ABFBM_MXR8axg

The newer/improved 105/R7000 series and Ultegra/R8000 series cranksets were available - but I limited the search to the older 5800 and 6800 models because I was concerned there could be a compatibility or chainline or fit issue (I believe the chainring placement changed slightly - but not certain)
I did not change the FD - it works well with the the new 6800 crankset (the front shifting is outstanding)
The RD also worked well - no change required - but I did later change the RD and cassette - but only because I could not resist lol

So after a month of looking, I found a new FC-5800 105 and ordered it yesterday. The bike time is non existent at this time as the relocation work is taking my attention.

It’s here! I’m amazed at how light it is. I’ll do the install this winter but I’m happy to have found this.

We’ve landed in central Ohio and are living with family until we close on our house which happens to offer near direct access to the Ohio Erie trail. Oh yes!
I grabbed a much needed 7 mile ride the other night on the paved country roads. I think the rear derailleur got bumped during the move so I’ll attend to that repair. The 700x35c tires are a great choice for the area in central Ohio.

Picked up another 6 miles last night. Spent most of the ride on the small front ring. Definitely needs some rear derailleur adjustment.

Made it out for a ride with my daughter. Since the derailleur needs adjusted I grabbed the other bike. It was a beautiful ride in central Ohio.

Yesterday yielded another 8 miles on the Q1 - I hoped on the local trail and headed south to meet up with a friend who was buying is his first real bike. My ride was roughly 4 miles each way and all of it on dedicated bike trails. Other than the rear derailleur being off, the bike rode great. Trails in Westerville are amazing and the rest of central Ohio are only getting better. So glad we landed in this area.
As for my friend, he picked up a mid 90's Hardrock Ultra that had some nice upgrades. Frame is in great shape, all of the components were updated with newer Shimano Alivio groupset, and it has some paved trail friendly Specialized tires on it. This is his first real bike and he is amazed at how much easier it is to ride than the $20 garage sale Murray he's been riding.

Managed to cover a few miles over the weekend with the Q1. The wife and I rode the same trail that is in the previous post with my daughter. We had a beautiful fall day with almost 7 miles filled with beautiful fall colors. Her Verve 3 continues to be a good choice other than needing a saddle upgrade which will be tackled in the spring. I'm still fighthing the shifing on the middle gears - as mentioned before, I'm almost positive it got tweaked when someone hastily unloaded the moving truck without me. C'est la vie!

We got a bonus late fall day here in central Ohio - 73 degrees and tolerable winds. This was my longest ride of the season at just over 15 miles challenged my self to ride 4 miles further than my last long ride. The trees are still holding onto most of their leaves but that will soon end. My northbound part of the trip was fairly easy and the wind was on my back left side. The ride home was a bit more challenging but I survived. Still love this bike but cannot wait to swap the 105 crank this winter, clean it up, and hit the trails in the spring. Probably will need to have a LBS adjust the derailleur after I do the clean up.
I wonder what it would cost to have the frame media blasted and powder coated...

no love for the drab / flat (?) / matte (?) black ?
when I grow tired of the color I position the bike in the sunlight so the hidden 'blue specks' in the paint appear lol
this past summer I was tempted to check out an orange Cdale Quick on Craigslist - just because of the color ... fortunately it sold

Im not a fan of the matte finish. My first step will be some light polishing compound and then cleaner/wax. Im hoping that would bring some shine and make it easier to the beauty of the color.

Somewhere in between the two would be good with me. I'm not a fan of monochromatic and never have been. 28 years of marriage to an art major reminds me that color value and contrast are important to me. I have some ideas without changing the frame color but right now they are simply ideas...

If I had the play money something like this would be tempting:
Oh I have read up on the brand...
But if I got different wheels, do the crank upgrade and some other things... that's a chunk of change towards a Roadlite 7 that is over 3 lbs lighter than the Quick 1 or the Litespeed Cherohala City...

wow - what does the Roadlite 7 weigh ?
with some upgrades my Disc 1 weighed just under 20 lbs ; in current form (with slightly larger/heavier tires and heavier grips) it weighs 20.2 lbs
thats with the low-end/OEM wheelset (hubs/rims/spokes)
(and with pedals)

my small Disc 1 originally weighed around 23.6 lbs
with Ultegra crankset / bb - Dura Ace cassette - Ultegra RD - weight was then around 22.2 lbs
replaced OEM tires and tubes with Panaracer GK and Aerothan tubes to bring weight to around 21.5 lbs
replaced OEM stem / bar / grips and seatpost / seat ... skewers ... to get weight to just under 20 lbs
Thomson masterpiece seatpost and WTB Volt w/ti rails weigh significantly less than the OEM post and seat
The shorter (80 mm) Cannondale C1 stem weighs just slightly less than the OEM C4 90mm stem - but the handlebar and grips *** weigh significantly less than OEM
*** I've used a number of bars and grips on this bike - including Easton EC70, Ritchey Superlogic, and currently using slightly heavier ENVE bar ... initially used KCNC foam grips but went to heavier PNW grips and then more recently ODI grips
( the OEM C3 bar weighed 300g / grips 145g - for total of 445g ... compared to total weight of 175g for Superlogic bar and KCNC foam lock-on grips )

Thanks for the thread! I was considering the Quick 1 amongst others (mainly Specialized Sirrus 3 and Giant Escape 1 - don't like the 1x drivetrain on the 0 ) and wondering if it would be up to for some light gravel/offroading, as from the website it looks like a purely urban set of wheels. Just had a Giant Roam 0 stolen, had bought it in July with the intent of trying more off road but I think I would now prefer a quicker bike, so back to "standard hybrids". Would you say the quick, with maybe just a tire upgrade - as I am not quite as keen a cyclist yet to go full mod like you did - could handle the occasional gravel and dirt track?

I'd say it is targeted to the urban crowd but it is more capable than people might think. The tire upgrade to the 700x35c size was a great choice and works great for all around riding. It is not as fast but the ride is more forgiving since I dropped tire pressures to 60-65 pounds on the 700x35c. I think 700x38c tires would fit without the mudguards but I'll let someone else give it a whirl. Gravel bikes ship with 700x37c or 700x38C so I think the Quick 1 with the tire upgrade would be fine.
As for going full mod - I'm a tinkerer by nature and cannot leave stuff alone. All of my upgrades thus far are pretty much bolt-on additions that I think about anyone can do. The 105 crank upgrade scheduled for this winter is another level of complexity. I document it when I do the installation.
t2p , any thoughts for Entrigo ?
