Nobody in their right mind would spend $10K on a Time Alpe d'huez. I mean, get a Scylon if you want a pure road bike or an ADHX if you want an all around bike 😁

$90 for a vintage road bike
32 lb 1982 steel mixtee frame with equally old metal rim brake wheels, and I am the happiest I have ever been in my life. you don't need to have the best possible components to be happy, and besides, it has held up better than the skeletal system that I was born with, which is pretty sturdy imo.

All the carbon and diamond encrusted groups in the world couldn't bump this above 4 - 5K of actual monetary value.

I've flipped dozens of those bikes in the past few years. I buy them from some guy on the corner for $500 cash, put some really deep tubular wheels on them, and then sell them to unsuspecting buyers for $6-7k. It's like stealing candy from a baby.

Nah, that bike probably isn't 10K. DangerousDanR must've been referring to something else or maybe he just used hyperbole.
The 2023 version of the Time Alpe D’Huez with disc brakes is only around 3K.

Yeah, the frame is the most expensive piece of the puzzle. Clearly, an additional $7,000 couldn't possibly be justified by this group and wheelset.

I like the way the ADH looks better than the Scylon, and the Scylon doesn't come in blue. I don't need an all-around bike. I have a very good gravel bike with a couple of wheel options that serves my needs for multiple surfaces. It doesn't matter anyway. A new Time is a fantasy that will never come true.

Summer of '16.... I paid $2,100 for my Trek Domane S5 with carbon frame and 105 components.
Checked Trek's site the other day.... and now the modern equivalent to my S5 Domane (SL5 Gen4) costs $3,500!

This ^^^ is where your ignorance about the subject became blatantly obvious.

Of course I'm not suggesting that there aren't any that may potentially cost that much, just that the ones here certainly don't. Should've clarified too, sorry.
It's an older Dura Ace with Cosmic Carbon wheels. Not sure how much they were new, but certainly not 7K.

Oh, what a shocker! Here we go again with the same old tired story on these forums! It's like watching a broken record spin endlessly in the same spot. But hey, I'll admit, I'm probably not helping by tossing in my sarcastic remarks every now and then to poke fun at the absurdity.

OP has learned so much since he posted this on 4/22 "I've never been on a road bike before." We are in the presence of genius.

I believe I actually found the wheelset of this 10K bike used for €500.
