Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hot, Not a fan of the blue tape though. It’s distracting IMO. Also, why are the rear and front calipers different?

Yeah I'll change the tape, it's what I had on hand when I bought new bars and stem so could ride next day. Calipers are both ice grey Force, I had silver Red on there just prefered gray. I would prefer black really but may go back to the Red's in the meantime

+1 all that, also that seatpost has too much visual bulk around the clamp, and new Red makes those levers look so ugly.

Slicker post, slam and trim the front, and some of those new levers with the pistons where they belong, and that thing would be totally banging.

Agreed but star fade would be really hard to reverse wrap and end up right.

That is a well-built, high-quality, high-performance road machine, with all its parts in the right places. I understand why people think it's hot. Unfortunately, I find it kind of dull and uninspiring. I've never been one for the "stealth" look. Maybe a different background would change my mind.

I get it but I like to fly (or maybe ramble in my case) under the radar.

Fair. I’ve been on the fence about the tires but I do think I’ll switch it up to black on the next set. I love the gumwall look on a lot of bikes but this one might just deserve all black.

I still have a pair of those wheels in my stable (tubulars!). Heavy, but fast as **** once you get them spinning. The flywheel effect is dramatic.

This bike might have a decent hot score for an older machine, if it was staged well.

Well I still have my very first pair of Mavic Cosmic Expert which I bought back in 1997 and used in road bike racing competitions as well as a very first generation Mavic Cosmic Carbone from 1999 purchased two years ago, they are reliable and fast wheels. All the bike projects that go through my bike tech are always well staged. I need to buy a pair of look yellow pp396 pedals to finalize completely.Since 2008 Mavic Cosmic Carbone are made in Romania and the Carbon texture of the wheel has changed too, not the same quality than the ones made in France back then.

New Pirelli tires on my road machine. I think I prefer the look of the light tan sidewalls of the previous Vittorias, but these look okay.
