Mid-70s Pearlized Orange Centurion Super Le Mans

1975-1976 Centurion Super Lemans Closet Queen. Paint, Decals, & Chrome in almost new condition. Nice Pinstriped Lugs. Sunshine High Flange Hubs, Araya 1 1/4 Rims. Still has the original tires & bar tape. Christophe toe clips & leather straps look new, & it still sports a Zefal Pump. Mid-Level in the Centurion lineup, but condition is almost beyond belief. Thoughts on value?

That’s a beaut but unfortunately a lower end beaut. The condition is the value on this bike so maybe $200? Not really sure bit I don’t think any more than this.

Below is a post from 3 years ago where we prattled on about one of these. Looks like $190 sold it back then.

https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...ied-price.html

BTW, I’d lower the stem and raise the seat to give it even more curb appeal.

I didn't need another bike, but it fits & I couldn't pass it up after looking it over.

Put it on ebay & ask $375. There has to be somebody somewhere that's sentimental about that bike. And, don't listen to elite bike snobs that want to label it lower end. They're idiots. It's definitely not low end by any measure.

About 5 years ago I stumbled on to a 1984 Elite RS in the same condition. Original tires and bar wrap no paint chips or oxidation all for $100. I put a set of tires on it and enjoyed the heck out of it for about 2 years . I kept it clean and never dropped it so it was pristine and I sold it to buy another earlier vintage bike. I got $300 from the first guy who looked at it. The only time I ever made money on a bike!By the way that is almost the same color as my Medici Pro Strada, I love it. Clean it with soap and water and a sponge. After it dries, spray furniture polish on it and shine it up. Use Qtips to clean small spots.

Before you sell, please PM me with the serial number and any component date codes. It might just provide the key to cracking the Tano serial number code from this era. TIA.

T-Mar, Serial # is N724. 1975 or 1976?

It's all opinions. Mid level in the 1970s can equate to lower end in the 1980s. Great vintage look on the plus side. You can ask whatever you want and the market will decide.

Ebay means you have to be willing to pack and ship at a low cost. I sold a frame this week on eBay. Received nothing for the packing time and effort. It has to be built into the price. You will also be surprised at the fees, between eBay and Paypal. I'm happy with the outcome, but its not for everyone.

$500 on C/L? Dreamland. Only one picture, non drive side, with seat post buried into the frame. And then key word spamming in the ad. "Key Words: Miyata, Bridgestone, Surly, Panasonic, Univega, Fuji, Nishiki, Trek, Centurion, Vintage, Schwinn, Raleigh, Road Bike, Campagnolo, Vintage, Lugged Steel, Touring, Rivendell"

Unfortunately, we don't have a good case for the Centurion serial numbers of this era, which is why I made the request. The non-drive side photo makes it difficult to identify the derailleurs but the rear appears to be the 1976-1977 Version of the SunTour VGT. A drive train photo and date codes from the derailleurs and crankset may allow us to determine the exact year.

I think that ebay supports higher prices. So, with the right presentation $375 could be possible. But, you would be really lucky to get $200 for that on CL. And, asking $500 on CL is absolutely crazy.

1975-1976 Centurion Super Lemans Closet Queen. Ridden less than 10 times. Interesting how Ridden less than ten times has morphed into NEVER BEEN RIDDEN!!!.

Its now showing up on multiple C/L in the SE..... With a nice Ironman for $175, I do not see the value here.

Its $100 cheaper ($400) on Atlanta C/L.

I bought one of these for $80 off craigslist where it had sat for a few days in 2010 when bikes like this actually had some value. A year later, I bought another for $40. They look nice, and the barcons are cool, but they're hi-ten and the finishing is not great.
