What size stem do you have on your MTB?

I am currently using a 12 cm. So far so good, but might be a little short on the frame I am on.

Running a 120mm Thomson now, but will be trying 110mm and maybe a 110mm soon. Just need to experiment a bit, as it's a new build. Got to dial it in.

If a 12cm stem is to short for the frame, your frame is probably too small. I run a 10cm stem.

I have a 120mm on one frame that is a bit small for me
I am trying a new frame with a 90mm - i had a 100mm on it first, still dialing in the fit. longer top tube on this frame

Yeah, but I'm riding a MTB intended for racing. Most of the racer guys I know run about a 12cm or longer.

How could this poll possibly help you determine your proper stem length?

Who assumed that the poll is for help assistance with proper stem fitting? I posted the poll just because I wanted to know what other people are using.

I'm glad he did...I was curious too.

I was under the impression these days that more and more people are running stubby little stems. I switched from a 105mm Easton to a 90mm Thomson. Some days I wish I would have gone with an 80. Mine's a trail bike though...no racer.

I'm also getting the general impression that people nowadays seem to run shorter stems than, say, in the 1990's. I started riding/racing MTB in '93 and the cockpit was way more stretched out. I think zero degree rise was the prevalent thing, too, IIRC.

I run 130mm stems on both the hardtail and the fully. Straight bars w/bar ends on the hardtail and low riser on the fully.

That's what I ride, FWIW. Like it makes any difference to anyone but me.

Yah...I remember the "extremists" with their 150mm negative 5' stems. What a trip.

Come to think of it, the stem on my suspension bike is flip-flopped, so it's like minus six degrees. Shouldda just put FLAT bars on that pup!
