Got in 20.25 miles. My trail was limited due to hurricane debris so I took a detour which worked out nicely but did not allow quite as long a ride. Still, a very nice day for a ride and it was good to get out.

42 miles on the Sakatah / Singing Hills Trail today. I rode my Fuji 3-speed city bike conversion, because it is the perfect bike for a rail trail like this, and I wanted to test out the new V.O. Milan handlebar. I did this mod because I can't find a setback seatpost in the 26.2mm size for this bike, so I moved the grips forward instead. It helped some, but now I've got the numb hands/sore wrists again. At least my back didn't complain this time. I'm going to keep the bike like this for a while, it seems to handle better because I am more balanced within the wheelbase instead of perched over the rear wheel. The bag/rack combo is going onto my Light Roadster project this winter, and the Fuji will get a smaller set.

Since I concentrated more on riding than photography today - to be honest, there isn't a lot to shoot along this trail - here is the only decent photo I shot:

Great ride today. Cool weather is a joy. About 20 of us started at 7 AM south around the Alamo Dome...total 16 miles. Had one serious accident. One of our riders got a tire stuck in an old trolly track and flipped over his handlebars, landed on his back. EMS came. Sure hope he's ok. Cautionary tale.

36 miles Sunday evening. Nice cool weather and good ride, although the last few miles on the home stretch were rough. I was running on fumes by then.

Had a beautiful morning for a very frustrating 52 mile bike ride. Got to the park this morning with an awesome 62º temperature, blue skies and very low humidity. Started getting my bike ready for my ride and Amanda's dad comes over and asks if I can go with him to look at Amanda's bike. She called and said one of her jockey wheels froze up on her. So we grab some new jockey wheels and head off for the repair. Two of the bearings (SRAM Red) in the upper jockey wheel had disintegrated. So we change the jockey wheel and head back to the parking lot. Well, all the things we did yesterday at the LBS didn't seem to do any good because the squeak I've been having is still there and worse than yesterday.

So, I'm at the van and decide to change the chain to eliminate the chain as the culprit. Got done and my buddy Frankie pulls up. Take off for the ride again and the squeak is still there and really sounds as if it's coming from the pedals, which are only two months old. Around 10:00, Mother Nature decides to play the wind game and starts hitting us with winds in the upper teens and gusts in the mid twenties. I'm getting beaten up by the wind and I'm very frustrated because of the squeak so I decided to gut the ride short. Came home and changed the pedals so if it's still squeaking tomorrow, I guess I'm looking at a new bottom bracket.

42 miles averaging just over 18 mph on a breezy but beautiful FL day. Ride took me from Gainesville out Rt. 26 to Trenton and back. Going out I flew with the wind at my back, but I knew what was in store for the return. But with gratitude I rode the drops for much of the ride home.

So about 112 miles in 3 days in almost identical conditions (winds consistent E to W). Similar to the poster above, they ranged from mild to pretty strong at times.

No complaints, life on a bike is good!! And the Domane six P1 is a sweet ride..

I did a short cruise today (4miles), yesterday 11 miles. It gets dark earlier now so time is slipping away here.

Wre did 50.9 on the tandem yesterday. Cool temperatures, deep blue sky, gusty wind, your iconic New England October day. Lots of orange too.

Another 30 mile ride late afternoon west of Gainesville. Running out of daylight now, so getting tougher to get in those miles after work.

I am planning to ride in the Santa Fe Century Ride (36th annual!), aiming for the 68 mile loop, on Oct. 22nd. I'm really improving my average speed and endurance, and have dropped almost 30 lbs since early July. I could use another three weeks of hard training, but it will be as it is.

This week I'll do close to 300 miles (150 down since Saturday), then take it easy next week. I hope to have a good ride during the event......

Did you see where Parks is closing Flatwoods at 7pm now! My club had to cancel the Wednesday Night series ride because of it! BTW- Amanda is truly amazing, when the water is high she'll ride a recumbent so the bottom bracket sits higher to go over the water!!!!

Yes! They started closing at 7:00 PM last week, I think. Good thing that I ride in the morning but it's staying darker in the morning so I'm going to have to start at 8:00 rather than my usual 7:00. It's not a big deal, it just takes an hour away from things I would after the ride. But since the ride comes first, the rest of the stuff can wait.

Hope all goes well with your surgery and that you make a quick recovery and get on the bike soon.

Good 36 mile solo ride today. On lap two, I rode up on a crash that involved one of the park regulars. He was ridding with Amanda's group and suddenly went down. Since he was the last rider in the line, nobody seems to know what happened to him. He was unconscious when I rolled up to the crash. Fire Rescue was already there and they ended up air lifting him to the hospital. Not a good sign. I hope he is OK and has a quick recovery.

1st ride in 12 days since 9/30 mishap. Bicycle Boy meets concrete, concrete wins. Cracked my right hip and bruised my shin. Rode home the 6.5 miles but getting off the bike was just the first of many challenges.

Took the trike out today for 13.3 miles. Leg needed the exercise. But getting that big beast into the apartment up two steps with a wall 4 feet in front is, to say the least, tricky. My new bike jacket now has chain grease all over the bright neon green front. Kinda stands out. But at least I got out today for a while.

We road a pleasant 24 miles this morning. Weather gettin' pretty cool in the early hours.
We had to take a funny route today as 2 of our courses are currently blocked by road construction or bridge repair. Bummer, but I look forward to the new surfaces.
