Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If I could not obtain drugs it would be worse. It's debatable how much attention I'm getting these days. I've had one appointment with an actual doctor in the last year.

I've been wanting to get back to doing my floor workouts, but can't find a convenient time. Of course it has to happen first thing. Of course it does. But it's too easy to stay in hammock, playing with the phone. And then it gets to be too late. Riding before the heat and all. So I think I'll do it after my ride. But then I'm tired. And around and around she goes. Today there will be no morning ride(sad), as I have to go to the city in search of that washer part. So today could be the day. The first day if the rest if my life.

I should point out that, despite my cynicism, all the evidence I have seen says our @datlas is a thoughtful, careful, and conservative, physician and I am sure his patients benefit in proportion to his time with them. I would go to him with complete confidence.

S1 won’t fit anything bigger than a large 23 or small 25. It’s really uncomfortable on Texas roads.

I should find a steel 650B all-road. Just, not now.

I’m intrigued by all road bikes but struggling to find a sufficient use case. Not a whole lot of gravel dirt in my immediate area that I know of (but I may be looking in the wrong areas) and the places where there is dirt, the R3 is fine.

My wife has started open water swimming again, I paddle along beside her in a kayak so she doesn’t get hit by a careless boater. None of our pools (indoor or outdoor) are open.

I wish I could swim, but my technique is awful.

Of course once I finally start exercising I don't want to stop, and feel immeasurably better for it. You'd think that would be enough.
In other news, I imagine you are all on the edge of your seats wondering about the finger. It is now flexible enough that the tip of the thumb can easily touch the distal knuckle--on the palm side. A week ago that couldn't be done. And my energy level continues to improve daily. Soon I will be better than normal.

Hmm....looks like the era of telemedicine might be coming to an end.

Medicare will continue to cover this service as long as the "State of Emergency" is still on, which is indefinite.

Our lovely local 800 pound gorilla company who controls most of the non-medicare health insurance market here has decided to stop covering telemedicine effective July 1st.

Sad.

Short sighted, IMO, especially given the current data on outcomes. Looks like a bad business decision too; don't they reimburse a lot less for telemedicine visits?

Weird. The signals I've been getting is that it's here to stay.

You are right. Somewhere I read recently that if this were a baseball game it would be the second or third inning. For readers outside of the US who are not familiar with baseball but might be with basketball, it is the end of the first quarter. Don't know the soccer equivalent reference.

Absolutely. There are good people in all professions. The trick is to find them. How do you find a good doctor? A good electrician? A good auto tech? Let me know when you solve that conundrum.

The miracle of the telephone! And the even greater miracle of having the ability to speak Spanish on the phone. It opens up whole new worlds.
The part won't be in til next Monday or Tuesday. Looks like I can ride, if I get going post haste

Some pay similar to office visits, some pay less.

Medicare is covering for the duration of the public health emergency. Most private insurance companies tell us they will cover it through at least July 31st or even later, but this one big player says they are stopping it. I hope that changes. Even their radio advertisements were pushing how they are covering telemedicine.
