Thanks for pointing this out.
I hadn't even considered that anyone would think I was making a political statement.
I should be more careful.

But actually, I was just acknowledging Lascauxcaveman's quip about not even having a garage...
That was a line from the Charlie Daniels song "Ballad of the Uneasy Rider".
All I did was fill in the two lines that preceded it in the song.

Funny you should ask, since I took the "Danish Chopper" to Fairfax in Marin today for a couple of rides up Mt. Tam on the trails.

It rode like it always has, lively to the extreme while descending undulating, hard-pack fire roads. I even ran into a couple from Copenhagen up there who knew exactly what it was.

I escaped the confines of the park 'n ride just before an afternoon blm protest was shutting down the town. Weather was great, cool for a change!

Garage Door Bike Photos

Sorry, poor quality photos taken with a crappy camera for insurance purposes...

This 1975 Raleigh Pro dates back to Jan. 2007. Frame arrived from eBay on Saturday. I was in a hurry to assemble it and take it out for a ride on Sunday. Didn't have a Campy BB so I threw in a Stronglight 93 crankset. I still haven't gotten around to changing it. Photoshoped the door.

1985 Eddy Merckx with a Campy CdA gruppo from 2008. Shows my meh garage door.

My 1983 Colnago Super taken in front of my neighbor's garage door in 2008.

1982 Bertin C79-SSC taken in 2010 in front of same neighbor's garage door.

Oh, I recognized the lyric immediately in his post, and I did not think you were making a political statement. The John Birch Society was a pretty well-known organization about a half-century ago and it was skewered in the Pogo comic strip as the Jack Acid Society. The origin of the line, "We have met the enemy and he is us."

Are those doors automatic, with the push of a button? Do they not swell and shrink with the weather? Here, where we have extreme humidity half the year and extreme dry the other half, it's a terrible problem.
Nice work!

You never know what the mods might take issue with. They can be a touchy bunch. They might take issue with this post.
Of course everybody knows that song, even the mods.

I had a friend with a wooden toilet seat, who called himself a member of the Birch John Society.

Nice work!
The owner wanted hinged doors, traditional with no openers...Here in Olympia, Washington State we don't have a lots of super low humidity days... Not much of a problem with swelling due to a fairly consistent humidity level thanks to being so close to Puget Sound...

RIP Charlie Daniels. Maybe we shouldn't have mentioned his stuff and he'd still be around. Can't be too careful.
