What are your August goals? Accountability Thread! haha

Don't know if there's a thread like this, looks like there was one last month? Figured I'd start one for August since the calendar turns over tomorrow!

With only a few very short rides under my belt, I want to try to hit 50 miles for the month of August. It should be very doable if I stick with it, and I wanted to post it here and keep updating, because I feel like I'll be more likely to get on and lay down the miles if I'm checking in for others to see.

Hopefully others will post their August goals here as well so we can see what everyone else is up to! Or if I shouldn't have started this thread, let me know and I'll stop!

Let's see, keep my 90 day Myfitnesspal streak going
Complete another month of the Myfitnesspal Ultimate Accountability Challange.
Ride 500 plus but with better structure to those miles with intense days balanced with recovery days.

Need to look at a calendar but I feel another metric century coming Memorial Day weekend (not sure when that is this year).

300 miles of road riding, 100 miles of rail trail riding, and climb two of the six remaining hills from my list of fifteen hills that have beat me in the past. Lose five more lbs, maybe ten. Take at least one fifty plus mile ride. Jay

Rode just over 300 miles in July.
Rode 203 miles in August 2013.
My main goal is to ride 300 miles this month, with at least 50 miles per weekend
My weight goal: 150-lbs. Once I get there I plan on buying a road bike! Apparently my body isn't comfortable yet as I continue to float above 170 ...

I'm going to try for 500 but that might be optimistic this month. Depends on how many miles I can get in while visiting out of state family.

I will post my first goal having only been riding for a month. I believe I can work up to 70 miles and lose 13 pounds in August.

I think I can, I think I can!

My goal for August is to lose 5 pounds (currently 218 lbs/98 kilos). My frame is meant to carry more, but I'd like my luggage to be muscle and not the current fat that adorns my skeleton. I also want to cut down on smoking. I am down from a pack a day to about a half pack a day, and I'd like to cut down even more and be totally cigarette free by October.

I'll shoot for 250 kms for august, and -4 lbs, I'm @ 320 this morning.
I bumped my daily cals up to 2850; I'd been around 1900 for about a year, but i've been feeling really tired/exhausted lately, so hopefully it'll help.

Don't have any "goals." I have rides I want to do, including the Green River route of d2r2 and our club's annual New Hope to Brooklyn ride. And I haven't kept track of monthly mileage for a long time. Don't see the point. I know if I have ridden a lot in any given month and whether those miles are "quality" miles. Don't see the point in tracking every single mile, and I don't want to spend the time trying to keep track of the mileage every time I ride to work, the movies, dinner, etc.

400 miles ... again, even though I've fallen short of that the last two months.

Won't be any easier this month, as I'm losing a week of commuting next week while on vacation with my kids.

If I can get my butt out of bed before they're scurrying about, I might be able to get a few rides in.

Also would like to lose 8 pounds, which would put me at 260. Probably my lowest since high school.

I want to increase to 225 miles from July's 200. Also, want to force myself out of bed one day a week and ride around my neighborhood. Hmm...maybe I'll force my 25 extra miles before work. I am currently doing 20+ miles on saturday. i would like to do a back to back 20 on sat and sunday. Also would like to do a 10+ ride on a saturday night after doing my 20+ in the morning. I think that will work as a goal set for Aug. Oh. and lose another 10 lbs.

I've got a miles number in my head but instead I'm going for "number of times on bike". Miles will show up and I'll get more benefit from the consistency rather than large rides to get in the miles.

My lunch rides are higher intensity. My first work route is no sprinting, etc. and is just a good push pace. My second work route is for sprints/intervals, etc. and is painful. Combine those two and I'll get good benefit from them.

So.....
Number of rides = 15 (3x per week while at work, 2 extra on weekends)

Now to throw in some mileage based off that....
Work Route 1 (WR1) = 12.84 miles
Work Route 2 (WR2) = 15.78 miles
Multiply by number of times performed to get Work Ride Total (WRT)

12 Work rides this month which gives six each if I alternate.

(6 x WR1) + (6 x WR2) = WRT
(6 x 12.84) + (6 x 15.78) = WRT
77.04 + 94.68 = WRT
171.72 = WRT

Weekend Rides are .... rides I do on the weekend. I already know I'm going to be gone for one of the weekends, maybe two of them so I will probably only do two weekend rides.

I am going to set a Weekend Ride (WER) at 30 miles or more. Two of those give a Weekend Total (WET)
(2 x WER) = WET
(2 x 30) = WET
60 = WET

Work Ride Total + Weekend Total = Month Total (MT)
WRT + WET = MT
171.72 + 60 = MT
231.72 = MT

So... I'm not going to focus on the miles but I should end up over 200 for the month.

Made 330 last month, 130 over my goal.

Upping it big time this month.

Shooting for 350. Bad start. Pouring this morning, no ride today. Planning 40 tomorrow and 23 Sunday.

My goals for this month are vague at this point. I'm on the fence about pulling the trigger for a Sufferfest CX training plan. If I do that my mileage will likely go way down from the last two months but my performance in Cx should benefit. Either way I plan to concentrate more on quality this month than those in the past. Sunday morning all out efforts at the same time as my races will be after a warm-up. At least one day a week work on improving my skills, tight turns, mounts, barrier jumps. Maybe even some running, gasp! I've a 75+ mile ride planned for 8-2 and another long ride with some climbing planned for 8-16.

And no complaining about fingerless gloves. You need to maximize tanline locations.

what are gloves? oh those things.....they are used only on MTB rides (full finger) and fast club rides (full fingers) or if it's below 40* out

They are providers of tanlines. The only other purpose they serve is to feel squidgy after about 75 miles on a hot day.

It's a sacrifice that must be made. Sunglasses? Tanlines. Helmet vents? Tanlines.

Tanlines are the cycling equivalent of the mark of the beast.

I lost all tans lines from my 4months layoff, they have faded to oblivion. Gloveless only get squidy on climbs, ride fast enough and hands don't hold the sweat too long while moiving, just rotate position on the bars so one part isn't soaked Tanlines should be razor sharp at arm and legs

Sunglasses (oakley jawbones) for broken/lost/ran over in the indecent. Interested to see what tanlines my new lid gives me, but at least I can look like i'm going fast
