Question on upgrading Trek 7000 shifters

I have a 4-year old Trek 7000, which is basically the same as the current Verve 1. I'm satisfied with everything on it except the twist shifters. The Verve 3 uses the Shimano Altus EF51 shifters - can I just swap mine out for those (and grips as well of course), or do I need to change the front and rear derailleur as well? I've got the Shimano Tourney front and rear, and the Verve 3 has the Altus front and Acera M360 rear. However, the Trek FX 7.1 has the Tourney up front and is using the EF51 shifters, so I'm guessing they're compatible?

Thanks!
