Lake County IL - New Trail Opportunity
A trail in the heart of Lake County, IL would be an amazing re-envisioning of the now-dead Rte 53 highway expansion!

The state had planned a highway extension all the way to Grayslake (from Buffalo Grove) but it is now dead. BUT, the Illinois Sierra Club and other organizations are working to re-envision the extension in a more equitable way that isn't so bad for our environment.
This is a potential great opportunity for a wonderful MUP through the heart of Lake County.

Thanks. I posted to a couple local ride groups. I saw that it was also on The Chainlink, but not on the Chicagoland Bike Trails group there, so I added a comment there.

HAHA they've been trying to get that damn 53 expansion for 20 years! My parents still live in Grayslake, they always tell me about the new bridges and such linkng the beautiful Lake County Forest Preserves together. Still haven't taken the DPRT out of the city that far north, though. Would love to soon!
