Hello, Again

Hello all. I used to be quite active here. I re-found the bike and lost weight and this and that and the other. I started to experience calf/knee pain and had an operation. That didn't fix the issue. The issue was such that riding a bike provoked everything and I couldn't ride my bike, though I was able to do other things. Fast forward to last year and I was down due to a fairly serious thing that required surgery and rehab. Now, my knee/calf has gotten to the point where I am barely a candidate for a knee replacement or I can do surgery to clean up all kinds of things. I'm electing for surgery.

Along this path, I've allowed my weight to go up quite a bit and I'm in the worst shape of my life.

This Friday I have my surgery. As soon as I can I'm going to get back on the bike and do a very short ride, like a few miles, and see how things go. I'll increment from there. My hope is that I'm able to use the bike for enjoyment and exercise. If so I'll make it part of my workout plan until the weather makes me put the bike away.

I have a road bike. Actually a longer version of that called an "Endurance" class bike. Slightly longer. I also have a hybrid. I'll be starting out on the hybrid. I may stay on the remainder of this year. My reward for doing a good job will to be able to get on my Endurance class bike.

This has been a tough stretch. Nothing that people haven't experienced before and overcame them and in the scheme of the world it's minor. People have it tougher and I know that. However, I do recognize that I'm allowed to have a few issues and not always have to give way to the fact that others have it rougher.

So. Hello again. I hope to be able to ride the bike without major issue.

Welcome back WonderMonkey !

I wasn’t sure if you are opting for a knee replacement or the arthroscopic surgery to clean things up. Whichever you choose, I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery.
