My new old...or is that...old new Dutch bike.

2005 Gazelle Golfo X-road, it started out as a bare bones 28 lb hybrid I found on craigslist that I turned into a fully loaded 38 lb trekking bike.

As found with temporary rack, fenders, and lights added.

Kinda tricky to install, needed some trimming, and fitting, but worth it.

That's ok, I have one of those too.

Heavier, slower, but oh so comfortable all day long.

All it needs is a steering damper spring. I put one on my utility bike (similarly equipped to yours) and I love having the wheel stay straight at all times.

Is that a Nashbar adjustable stem? I have one on my gravel grinder bike and it SUCKS! No matter how much I tighten the center bolt, the thing still has some play (movement) in it. I can move the stem/bar angle up and down a tiny amount. Not very reassuring.

I have a damper spring on my big Gazelle with the wheel stand, and find it works works great too, especially when using the front rack. On this bike with the rear sidestand I don't think its necessary.

The stem is OE, and marked Gazelle, but who knows where they sourced it from, could be the same. The caps have have splines that match splines in the two stem components. If I push and pull really hard I can detect a minuscule amount of play, but no actual movement, I'm confident its safe and secure.

Seeing that it's 11 years old, and the previous owner did a lot of trail riding with the bike, I see no reason to worry about it, or replace it.

Yeah my Nashbar stem is built the exact same way. Could be a carbon copy or something. But it's got some bad play. I can move the whole bar/stem combo using the bar ends even with the bolt extremely tight.

Great looking bike. Do you like the Shutter Precision hub? Please elaborate on your lighting system choices.

I have one in my bike. Love my Dynamo lights! I have the luxos eyc in the front and the b&m lumitec secula plus in the back. Pondering getting a bigger brighter prettier front light but I ride city streets only. Maybe I'm the summer I'll swap!

Thanks
The SP hub seams just fine, but I've only had it a couple of weeks. FWIW I cant detect any difference in drag between it and the Shimano dyno hub on my other Gazelle.
The tail light is a 5 led proprietary Herrmans from Finland thats built into the Racktime I-Valo tour rack top rail, with the electronics in the reflector below it. The second larger reflector at the bottom is a Cateye Reflex battery tail light. The headlight is also a Herrmans, the 95 lux (250 lumen?) H one S. I just wanted to try something different from B&M the few reviews I found compare it favorably to the Phillips Saferide. Its a little brighter and casts farther than my Cyo preimim plus or luxos U, but the stand light isn't quite as bright.

NB Magnetic drag of a Dynamo hub can rotate the axle in the dropout , if the axle nuts or skewer is not Tight enough ,

and wrap the electrical wire around The axle and perhaps pull enough to break the electrical continuity.
