Source for brown leather toe clip staps needed
I'm looking for brown or natural colored leather toe clip straps and would like your suggestions regarding a reasonably priced source. I see VO has a set for $15 which doesn't sound too terribly expensive. Anyone's experience with them would also be appreciated.
I have a pair of Christophe ones but they are delaminating.
Almost forgot - I also would like to find a nice set of clips - maybe with leather covered tips. Any help finding these would be appreciated also. They would be going on my Motobecane Le Champion so I thought the leather would be a nice touch.

I have the XL VO steel clips and brown leather straps. They perform as good as any strap so far as I can tell, but the extra length and shoe pad were the selling points for me. I gave them a good slather of Proofide. I have the toe clip leathers they sell, but haven't gotten around to sewing them on my clips. MKS makes half and full clips with leathers already sewn on. VO sells them and your LBS should be able to get them if you want to go that route.
I also have the deep half clips and I like them for city riding (lots of stops/starts) with a platform type quill pedal.

A riding buddy of mine recently got the MKS toe clips with the leathers pre-sewn on....The sewing job is ugly. Definitely better off to sew your own on no matter what your skill level. There's no way you can do worse than whoever is doing it for MKS.

Is anyone familiar with Eleven81 products? These seem pretty reasonable for $23... for clips and straps...

for the $4 price difference I'd stick with MKS. They've got a reputation for a good quality product.

plain leather tends to stretch and lose grip after awhile.
If you want quality, get toshis or mks. the layered lamination is worth every dollar. they'll last forever.
if you can live with black, you can buy used toshi straps for very cheap from a guy in japan. he sells used kierin racing components.

there is also plemons double straps. never used them, though. I stick with toshis, personally.
also in black: exustar (aka wabi cycles) double straps. I believe they're less than $30 and almost the quality of toshis. laminated.

When I placed an order last week for those VO fenders that are/were on sale, I looked around the store and found that they now sell a super deluxe version of their toe straps in honey, brown and black. Wow! These have to be the best toe strap available today. They're not cheap at $24, but they are top notch. The leather is really, really supple and soft and the stitching adds a lot of class. I bought a pair in honey and in black. I tried the black ones on my fixed gear this weekend, but only for about 6 miles (it was 30 degrees and snowing!). They felt great.
If the new straps are any indication, the new bar wrap they are offering must be as good or better than the Brooks wrap I have. Hey Santa, did you catch that!?
